Summary: We bought this and had it 2 yrs over the warranty when the tv started smoking like it was going to catch on fire and filling our house with strong, chemical like fumes. Scary when you have little ones in the house. Called Phillips customer service to see about repairing this dangerous product. They responded that there was nothing they could do but offer us to buy a refurbished tv from them.
Summary: Ive owned this tv for a few years ever since I moved on my own and I never seem to turn it off! I have to say I love it because the resolution is amazing and sound is great ! I'm a big movie fanatic and every time I have friends over they always say how great the picture quality is on my Philips tv so that's why I gave it a 5 out of 5 star rating! I would recommend this tv to ANYONE so if you purchase it enjoy !

Summary: No clue how anyone can complain about this television! I've had mine over three years and not so much as a hiccup. I'm dying to find a new smaller screen for my bedroom but can't find anything to compare to the glare contrast. This television has ABSOLUTELY NO GLARE!! Without a doubt, my best television investment ever.

Summary: I have a Philips TV model 42PFL3704D/F7 and the latest software updates installed. Lately HDMI1 and HDMI2 stopped recognizing connected equipment but HDMI3 continued to work fine for all equipment (TV Cable Box, ROKU box, Philips DVD home theater). The Philips support team suggested the child channel locks might be turned on so I went there (MENU, FEATURES, CHILD LOCKS, etc.) and locks were NOT turned ON for any channel.
Summary: Bought this 2 years ago for around $600. For 1080p, the picture quality wasn't that great. Now, at 2 years, the backlight inverter is dead - have sound, but no picture, unless you shine a light on the screen. Don't waste your time calling Philips customer support to inquire about parts - they're about as helpful as a bikini in a snow storm. They could sell me a new remote, or refer me to their "partner" Encompass, who doesn't list the part as available, either.
Summary: I bought this TV 2 years ago from Wal-Mart and it was a nice TV. I paid around $650. I had never had a HD TV before that so it was a really nice upgrade. After about a year the picture quality seemed to deteriorate though. I can't pinpoint what it is that changed but it's not nearly as sharp as it used to be. I mainly play games on my 360 and Ps3, as well as netflix. The sharpness of textures and the color is just not what it used to be.
Summary: I bought this TV in December 2009 at Walmart - back then I thought it was a steat at $628. Bought the 2 year extended warranty and took the unit home. Hooked it up to my Xbox, Samsung Bluray, HTPC and cable, and fired it up. I was pleasantly surprised at the brightness and clarity of the picture. Sure its only a 60hz display, but it handles action scenes in hidef movies and video games just fine.
