  1. Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

    5 September 2007

Flat-screen LCD HDTVs offering 1080p resolution are as common as dirt, but you need to dig a lot deeper to find plasma models touting the same resolution specification. For example, in the 50-inch size range, there's been only one true 1080p plasma so far: Pioneer's PRO-FHD1. Although it's hard to fault the Pioneer's astonishing picture quality (I couldn't), the $8,000 list price puts it well beyond the reach of most shoppers. Fortunately, at $3,500, the Panasonic... If you've been holding out for a 1080p plasma TV, wait no longer! The Panasonic TH-50PZ700 will enable you to experience the full glory of 1080p content from Blu-ray and HD DVD discs. And if you're not ready to purchase a high definition disc player just yet, the Panasonic will do an incredible job with lower resolution content in the mean time. And now let me get back to watching Planet Earth before the sad day that I have to return this TV back to Panasonic. Read more

This review is on a monster Plasma Television, made by Panasonic. I don't actually own one of these, most are in pubs and clubs, but I had the use of one on a regular basis. I feel I am qualified to review, and also recommend this product. The size of the screen is a massive FIFTY INCHES! The picture quality is fantastic, to be honest, when I heard what size it was, I did expect a poor picture, but this is brilliant. You can fine tune the picture to your eyes, and the... Read more

I have the pedestal version and was very worried that my money wouldn't buy much better than than a std CRT apart from size. I was never able to see HD programmes at any of the dealers I visited just the odd blu ray display and these looked fantastic. I spent hours trying to decide which was the better picture LCD or PLASMA. PLasma certainly has the edge for contrast and fast action scenes. I arranged for a Sky HD box to be installed before delivery and the first... Read more

Bought this after reading in Consumer Reports that it was the best they'd ever tested. I couldn't be happier with it. No complaints. Wonderful picture. You'll need external speakers, though. The internal ones are just so-so (I guess that is a complaint, but a minor one). Read more
