I wish I could say I had some clever reason for reviewing two nearly identical plasmas. Perhaps there was, but it's lost to me now. A few months ago, Panasonic asked me if I wanted to review the TH-50PZ700U, so I said sure. Then, a month or so later, they asked me if I wanted to review the TH-42PZ700U, so I said sure. It's not all magic here, folks. Sometimes this kind of excitement just happens. Read more

Test Bench: Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50-inch Plasma HDTV
Reviewer: Sound & Vision Magazine05 September 2007's Custom picture and Warm color temperature presets selected, its grayscale displayed a pronounced red bias, tracking approximately ±800 degrees kelvin of the 6,500 K standard from 30 to 100 IRE. Adjustments to the set's service menu evened its grayscale tracking out to around ±100 K from 30 to 100 IRE — excellent performance. The set's red color point was slightly oversaturated as compared to the SMPTE HD specification for digital TV, while green showed a more pro... Read more

Panasonic TH-50PZ700U
Reviewer: hdtvmagazine.com30 May 2007Overall we believe the TH-50PZ700U is excellent for watching movies, or any content with very high quality compression, so maybe we should say movies and Discovery HD Theater (buy now). But if you watch a lot of overly compressed HD content, or a lot of standard definition shows, our advice would be to save a thousand dollars or so and get a 720p model (buy now). You might be missing some of the wow factor with 1080p content, but will enjoy the other stuff a lot more. Read more

Panasonic Plasma Pleases
Reviewer: jdziados@fastermac.net, review.buy.com2 weeks ago- Overall 10

Panasonic has a good product here. With the exception of not really knowing whether the 2 HDMI outputs on this set are version 1.3 (or the older 1.2), the set is everything that I could ask for. Plasma purchasers should be forewarned that Panasonic recommends a minimum 100 hour break-in period for their plasmas, and actually suggests 1000 hours of reduced-contrast viewing for the full break-in. This can become an inconvenience in bright light viewing situations. Dark ... Read more

Excellent. TV came quickly with no damage, which was a concern because of its size and delicacy!! Comment Read more
