Summary: We loved this TV from day one. Phenomenal picture quality. I read the reviews beforehand and checked with Consumer Reports, as well. CR ranked Panasonic as great in the quality of their plasma HDTVs, with only 4% reported as having serious issues. So, we did not get an extended warranty. Well, 2.5 years after purchase, we're in that supposed 4%. The screen went black. Nothing, at all. The power light blinked 7 times, paused, then repeated. I called Panasonic about it.
Summary: Great TV, but died after 2 years. The circuit/motherboard overheated and we got the plasma pop of death. Found out that Panasonic removed the cooling fans as a cost reduction so after 2 hours of use the TV will overheat and eventually die. TV repair man suggested to turn off the TV during halftime of football games. Really?! That's ridiculous.
Summary: I was gaming back in the starcraft one day's on the biggest CRT I could find. My last CRT was the Sony GDM-FW900 24" Widescreen CRT Monitor. It weighed 96 pounds and I haven't seen an LCD that can touch its clarity, blacks or speed for gaming. Alas, it got dim so I sold it and replaced it with an ASUS VE278Q. I noticed the difference immediately. The LCD was light and bright and that's all. I was so spoiled by CRT's and for the next three years I had to settle for LCD's.
Pros: Black blacks, great color and clarity. No input lag. Built in settings are good. VIERA Link and SD card.
Cons: 62 pounds. Glass screen was cracked on the first one. Only one HDMI port.
Panasonic is failing me with their plasma products
26 April 2013
Summary: ** Update ** Although this Panasonic Plasma tv did not last very long, I was thankful I purchased it with an American Express card that had an extended warranty provision. It took some time to go through the claims process, but was able to be successful in getting my money back. This time I'm going to try one of the newer LED TV's with the hope (and extended warranty) they will last longer than the Panasonic Plasma's previously owned.
Summary: I purchased this TV a little over a year ago and I have been terribly disappointed by it from day one. Unfortunately, I was too lazy/busy to return it or request a replacement. However, I don't feel I should have had to anyway. The picture fades in and out during live sporting events and at times makes it really difficult to see. The picture quality when it is functioning well is average at best. I'm really disappointed and won't be purchasing Panasonic products again.
Summary: I researched and saved for this TV for a long time before actually buying it. I bought it last year. It's suppossed to be internet ready with the purchase of an antenna adapter which I bought immediately. After my TV failed to connect to the internet I called the, "concierge service." They walked me through all the steps and were very patient. When it didn't work they said that they'd kick this issue up the ladder and get back to me... A few days later I called them.
Summary: I bought this item from an Amazon reseller. It was used and labeled in very good condition. It has some cosmetic blemishes but it works fine. I have it next to another Panasonic of the same model purchase new. You can't tell a difference in the picture quality. If they had any more, I would consider buying them also - the price was great!
Summary: I purchased this TV in May of 2011. At the end of February 2012 it stopped showing a picture and the led flashed 7 times. I contacted Panasonic's customer service and after the troubleshooting they indicated it must be repaired by an authorized service center in the area. The tv is still under warranty so it will be repaired at no cost but after researching the problem this seems to be somewhat common with Panasonic Plasma televisions.
Great picture. Good sound. Great price. I'm VERY happy with this set.

Summary: I am NOT an electronics expert. My only past experiance with HDTVs has been with 2 Sony TVs. One is an older, very heavy, 32" CRT-style and the other is a 34" Bravia. Both are 5-7 years old and both still work great! This HDTV was puchased as an 'Open box' item. It is flawless as to picture quality and nearly flawless cosmetic wise.
Summary: So I thought I'd surprise the family by purchasing this 50" plasma for Christmas (2011) and everyone in our house loved it. My main intent for this TV was for Xbox 360 use and it was working beautifully...was. With less than 2 months of having it out of the box it is now dead - the red blinking lights of death. If you start researching 'Panasonic TV blinking red lights' I think you'll be surprised. I sure was, and not pleasantly surprised I can assure you.
