The Best Plasma TV
3 September 2012
  • Excerpt: As well as its little brother Panasonic TC-P42G10, the 46 inch TC-P46G10 is considered to be the best plasma TV in its size category. Being gifted with the same great features available for the entire G10 series - amazing black levels and THX certification for great colors - this Panasonic plasma TV deserves such a great rating. The manufacturer seems to have thought about all the categories of customers.
  • Pros: Has the same exceptional black levels as Panasonic V10 models, THX mode provides good colors out of the box, Viera Cast and Amazon Video on Demand, Very good primary color gamut, Has the same exceptional black levels as Panasonic V10 models, THX mode provides good colors out of the box, Viera Cast and Amazon Video on Demand, Very good primary color gamut
  • Cons: Has the same exceptional black levels as Panasonic V10 models, THX mode provides good colors out of the box, Viera Cast and Amazon Video on Demand, Very good primary color gamut, Colors are not perfect. Equivalent Samsung models have more accurate colors., Not for those with a tight budget, 1080p/24 content unwatchable using the 48Hz mode

Review of Panasonic TC-P46G10 Plasma Television

About.com
23 May 2011
  • Summary: Panasonic is one of the few manufacturers still dedicated to making plasma televisions , but I believe it’s too early to sound a death knell for the technology. The Panasonic TC-P46G10 proves that plasma is still a winner with a beautiful, film-like picture and an assortment of terrific, cutting-edge extras. Most noteworthy among the latter is the TC-P46G10’s Viera Cast Internet connectivity.
  • Pros: Smooth film-like images and nice, deep black levels, THX certified display, 600Hz refresh rate to prevent motion blur, Direct access to YouTube, Amazon Video on Demand and other Web-based content, On board photo viewer, Easy setup
  • Cons: Stock sound sometimes distorts, Viera Cast Internet content is somewhat limited, If more manufacturer’s abandon plasma, you could be left with old technology within a few years

  • Pros: Excellent black level performance. Very high contrast ratio. Color and contrast maintained up to a 170-degree viewing angle. Good audio quality. Auto-shut-off option when TV is idle. Supports HDMI-CEC.
  • Cons: Poor energy efficiency when compared with LCD models. 3 HDMI ports (one is side-mounted). Only Channel and Volume controls are backlit on remote.

  • Excerpt: When I visited Panasonic in Japan in the fall of 2004, with a gaggle of other journalists, plasma was the dominant flat-panel technology. But it was still pricey. On that visit, Panasonic told us that its goal was to get plasma prices down to $100 per diagonal inch.
