The Maxent MX-50X3 is 50-inch plasma television that is available at an unbelievably low price tag. Once you get a feel of its impressive picture quality, you will definitely be left wondering how come it is priced so low. So what makes the MX-50X3 really tick? Although the Maxent MX-50X3 doesn’t have great looks to show off, but it does have some really cool features. This is the era when most plasma manufacturers are getting into the black finish mode but the MX-50X3 is available in an all silver exterior. The speakers are mounted on both the sides of the screen and can be detached if required.

The remote control is no piece of art and doesn’t even have a backlight or any kind of illumination. But it is intuitive and well laid out. You have the buttons where you need them and above all, it is easy to use. There is also a sliding door at the bottom of the remote, which has all the direct-access keys for all the inputs. This makes programming quite convenient. The internal menu system is not graphics heavy but it is easy to navigate. The Maxent MX-50X3 has a native resolution of 1,366x768, which is enough for 720p HDTV sources. The MX-50X3 can accommodate all incoming resolutions like the ones from HDTV, standard TV, computers and DVD.

Amongst the drawbacks, the Maxent MX-50X3 has sacrificed on certain features, which are standard to most HDTVs. The MX-50X3 lacks a built-in ATSC tuner, a standard TV tuner, and a CableCard slot. Ina layman’s language, it would mean that you will have to connect a cable or a satellite box to watch HDTV. One of the standard features incorporated in the Maxent MX-50X3 is PIP or picture-in-picture. C-NET’s take on this is that the 50-inch Maxent MX-50X3 is an excellent value for money due to its impressive picture quality but lacks some of the most important features.
