Excerpt: My dad has had an LG flat screen for a couple of years, so when I was ready to buy a new TV I considered that brand first. I also did some homework with a consumer product testing group, and discovered that LG's reputation was well-earned. I also really wanted 3D functionality, so that gave me a short list of models to consider. I watched prices religiously until I found one I was willing to pay, and brought this baby home.
Summary: Have had this television for nearly a month. Was not looking to make this purchase but really had no choice with the black Friday discount that was offered. The setup was very simple. Make sure you order the dongle as well to enjoy the "smart" TV benefits. I like to be green as much as the next guy but the first thing you should do as the others have said is to turn the energy save feature off. The picture bursts with lively color once it is off.
Summary: This is a great tv with a fantastic picture, but there are a few flaws. 1. And, I knew this going in, but there is only 1 tuner built into the tv. I have both an OTA hookup and a cable hookup, so this is a bit of a pain. 2. No built in wireless. You have to buy a rather expensive dongle. 3. To access any of the screen adjustments/menus when using an app like netflixs you have to leave the app, adjust the setting you want, then log back in. Except for the screen ratio. 4.
Summary: This TV is absolutely fantastic. Let me be clear, my boyfriend who has the TV has a seperate sound system by Marantz. The sound system is no slouch by any means. But when we hooked up the TV, we actually did not plug in the 5.1 system. The TV was loud and clear. While it may not be perfect to many ears, for many people the sound coming from the TV may be "good enough". Some people may always want more, but for many the tv will be all you need.
Summary: This is the fourth TV I bought to you guys and every time is a completely new experience. Features and picture quality are the best. Keep going, you are doing great. One more thing: LG... U rock!!!
