Summary: We bought the LG in 2011 as the secondary TV. It was wall-mounted and everything worked well. Since it's a secondary TV, we only used it a few hours every other week. Unfortunately, it broke down a few days ago for no particular reason. Based on its usage, we would expect much more mileage coming out of it. We called the local LG support and was told they can no longer fix it since they don't have the necessary parts. Very disappointed.
Google: 'LG TV Sound, No Picture' Before Buying This TV
5 March 2012
Summary: After reading all the gushing reviews here on Amazon and other online sources, we purchased a 55' LG5600 in late November, 2011. It stopped working March 5, 2012 (that's 3 months, if you're counting). One night it worked fine, by the next morning we could get sound, but no picture. A quick Google search on 'LG TV Sound, No Picture' revealed this is a known problem with LG sets. How well known? There is a class-action lawsuit against the company in New Jersey.
Summary: Read lots of reviews, really looked forward to new TV purchase. Brought it home, hung it, and watched one great 3D surf movie. Thought this was the best purchase ever!! NEXT DAY, TV WOULDN'T TURN ON. What an incredible let down. Service scheduled for 3 days later. So for now we have a beautiful, non-functioning TV. We'll see how the service goes.
