Meh

Christopher D., Newegg
25 September 2011
  • Summary: With only having this TV for about 2 weeks I would have to say it may just be me needing to play with the settings more. But for a TV this expensive I would have expected better quality.
  • Pros: Good size and color. HD TV Looks awesome, no glare in bright rooms. Screen is Cystal clear during movies, lots of features, wireless was easy to setup and works great, plenty of outputs. Got onsale with 10 free 3d glasses
  • Cons: I would have to say this TV is meh, the 2d to 3d conversion is horrible. I watched Avatar with it being converted and did not once during the entire movie get the 3d look or feeling at all. During regular movies playing in HD some scenes the people seem like animated characters and it looks like ...

Sweet TV with Just One Problem

Andrew Senske, Amazon
22 July 2011
  • Summary: The LG 55LW5600 is a great TV. It's amazingly thin and light and produces a very good picture in most circumstances. 3D mode is great on movies designed for 3D. 3D mode is an okay novelty at best for all other movies and programming not designed for 3D.

Good Value

Jeremy M., Newegg
13 July 2011
  • Summary: Overall I woudnt trade it for any TV. LED makes up for the 30% light loss experienced through 3d glasses. Watched Tron 2 3D as my first 3d Movie. Totally Blew Me Away. Cant imagine what Avatar will be like.
  • Pros: Excellent value and shipping as always by newegg. LG is a great brand with great Customer Service. Great product. Excellent resolution, easy to set up. Comes with 4 pairs of glasses and if you break some easy to take some home after watching a 3D movie at the theater. Comes with a wireless adapte...
  • Cons: There's a setting that comes turned on by default called TruVision or something of the sort. Totally had me freaked out. Almost RMAd the TV. Also 2D>3D conversion sucks. Its not Limited to 3d. Not the TV's or LGs fault except for why include an option that is mediocre at best? Truth is it's impos...

Very happy with my decision

Paul Polichronakis, Amazon
8 July 2011
  • Summary: There are two things that I had to decide on when making my decision to purchase. First was LED vs DLP vs Plasma, and the second was whether or not to go 3D. i opted for the LED TVs because it will be hooked up to a FiOS box, a PS3 (for bluray), and probably a computer.

Don't let the price fool you.

Kevin Nicholls "jaded, aging hipster", Amazon
21 June 2011
  • Summary: I wasn't even in the market for a 3D TV, but when my Sony HDTV blew yet another bulb, I decided it was time for something new. Initially, I planned on getting one of the new Sharp 60" Quattron models, and headed to a nearby big box store to check out the selection.

Great 3D

Co N., Newegg
28 May 2011
  • Summary: I got this set from a local electronic store at about 40% off the lowest net price. Watching Tangled in 3D is almost the same as in the theater (i.e the floating lantern appears to be coming off the screen ).
  • Pros: Great 3D set. Plenty of HDMI inputs. Wireless adapter is included. Connects to internet in no time. Firmware update was a breeze. No expensive glass required (i.e. passive 3D).
  • Cons: None really

Avoid

Alan S., Newegg
23 May 2011
  • Summary: Not sure why I am getting a replacement when LG is not fixing the problem
  • Pros: The TV has an excellent picture
  • Cons: The HDMI sound output is not consistant. Going from SD to HD channels the picture works and sound periodically dies. Should have checked the internet first, there are multiple hits descibing same issue. Newegg has bee very helpful and sending a replacement. LG support is less then adequate. A kno...

First passive 3D display has its ups and downs

Michael S., Newegg
25 April 2011
  • Summary: If you are looking to buy this for 3D gaming, prepare to be disappointed. With the exception of some of the PSN titles most of them don't work well enough in 3D. 3D blu-ray seems to be great though. Deep Sea Imax 3D presentation was a blast to watch.
  • Pros: Super thin, no buzzing or high pitched noises. Looks fantastic in a room with lots of ambient light. All inputs are side mounted to where you could easily wall-mount this without cable clutter pressing against wall. Wireless usb adapter included. The passive 3D is awesome! 4 pairs of glasses come...
  • Cons: Most AAA titles on the PS3 don't seem to do a very good job of 3D. Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3, and the new Mortal Kombat suck in 3D. I'd rather play them in 2D. Half the reason I bought this TV was for 3D gaming and the majority of it's been a let down. I have a 60" Plasma as well and going to th...

Amazing 3d tv

Frank M., Newegg
19 April 2011
  • Summary: passive 3d might be the future, the tv comes with 4 pairs of glasses, require no batteries , but I also have some real3d glasses that I've kept from the theatres , and they work as well, they're really inexpensive compared to active 3d glasses.
  • Pros: The picture is beautifull, I used the picture wizard in the tv settings to calibrate the tv, and i'm satisfied with the picture, the blacks are awesome, it's internet ready, the wifi dongle that's included made connecting to the internet easy . I also have the LG app on my phone, it has volume/cha...
  • Cons: Not enough 3d content available , but it's coming , and 3d blu-ray is quite pricey. Tv speakers are not great, but I knew that having owned several LCD flat panels. Getting a tv this size and 3d, you must pair this with surround sound ( or a sound bar at the very least) to fully enjoy the experie...
