Summary: I bought this TV after reading great reviews. I have had the TV for over 6 months now to assure appropriate time and familiarity with the settings to see if I could get it right before writing a review. The TV is just OK. I was between the LG and the similar Samsung.
Summary: I was (at first) very happy when I purchased my new LG 55 inch HDTV. That lasted about a month. That was when I found out that there was sound distortion in the speakers when I put the sound up past '9' or '10'.
Summary: not only is the sound level very low. in less than 3 months time the right speaker blew out. for a tv that cost this much money you would think that you would get some sort of sound quality that matches the amazing picture.
This is a 60hz LCD confirmed by LG and black levels not the best
25 January 2013
Summary: Just got this TV on a deal that made it about 1/2 of MSRP and for that price I will keep it. The set is really a 60hz panel that flashes LEDs for a truemotion effect, one that has been debunked as delivering the real effect of 120hz. Blacks are not very deep and it suffers from a lot of edge light.
Summary: LG LCD tend to be over bright backlighting so make sure you get it calibrated. You can start with backlight at 30, Contrast at 90, brightness at 70. I still think the glare off the screen is annoying.
Summary: great picture easy to set up, looks great on the wall. Two weeks after I bought it the speakers started to vibrate. I changed bass setting to 30 and turned clear voice on to 3, so far no vibration.
