Excerpt: I recently had to trade in my 42 inch TV, because my husband decided he wanted something bigger. We were going to get a 46 inch, but saw the 47 Inch HDTV from LG on sale. The TV is much different than the 42 inch. It is still nice, black and sleek. The little emblem sits right in the front, but isn’t too distracting like some others. It is small and inconspicuous. The remote is not ideal for this television because it is kind of compact.
Summary: This tv has simply the best picture quality I've seen on a tv at this price. I have a mac mini hooked up to it running Plex media server. My movie library has never looked this good. Thanks for the great product LG!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, monitor for mac mini
Summary: I purchased this tv about a year and a half ago. No real issues with it. It was a great TV for the price but it only lasted for a year and a half before it stopped working. Not exactly a cheap TV either so now I either have to replace it or I have to pay to have it fixed or replace it. After some research it looks like faulty resistors. Simply bad parts put in by LG, its a common issue with these TVs.
Summary: Don't buy a TV any more buy the warranty. This product had a one year warranty. I bought it in March of 2010. On August 2012 it is dead. They want $200 to diagnose the problem and there is no guarantee it can be fixed or what parts will cost. For a $1000 TV to last 28 months comes out to roughly $450 a year for a TV. The cost of ownership is to high for me. I will never buy another product with the LG brand on it.
Excerpt: We bought this tv after an estimate for fixing our previous flat screen was $200. This price was one of the best we had seen especially for the size. Not to mention this wasn't a brand that typically has cheap tv's. My husband made the final decision and I must say I am pretty impressed. I thought that 47 inch was going to be huge (after having a 32 inch) but it really is a perfect size for our living room.
