Summary: my tv is 7 years old now and besides the powering on issue I've had for the last four years (ie takes 15 mins to power on), a new problem arose last week. my analog audio inputs don't work. l can see the picture on the screen but no audio whatsoever from any analog audio input. so I can't use my old DVD player, wii or Xbox. and since none of them support Hdmi (again I said 'old') the tv basically uses the cable box for hdmi1 and the Apple TV for hdmi2.
Excerpt: This tv is amazing LG 42 LC7D 42" Flat screen TV in 1080p * An LCD TV designed to fit your life and your space. * From the compact 20" to the large 47", the LG LCD line offers HDTV clarity * High performance technology and convenience.
Summary: This unit is in some demand, with the belated discounts, and was lucky to find one (a 70 mile commute). I agree with online comments about the 1080p/720p issues; the incoming signal is more of a determining factor than the receiving unit in terms of image quality. Conclusion: a good 720p lcd-HD tv should do extremely well. Case in point; this one! Discovery HD broadcasts are particulary stunning, and other "nature" productions (e.g.
Summary: As a 720p HDTV, which you should clearly know you bought, it is a great television. You didn't buy 1080p, so don't expect it to be one. Also, complaining about your standard channels not looking nearly as good as your HD channels?...is that supposed to be a surprise to consumers? People that have reviewed this television or others TVs with those types of comments are completely oblivious about the technology and probably don't know how to make the best out of it anyways.
Summary: We originally bought a Philips TV at Best Buy, but after we got home and opened it up, found it didn't have the analog connection we needed to hook up the very fine stereo system we had(after the salesman and Best Buy told us it did). Best Buy took it right back and offered us this set in exchange even though it was priced slightly higher. Very easy to install and it had all the connections we needed. However, at first I wasn't too happy with the picture.
Summary: Great tv! takes up little space, looks great and sounds great! The brightness is amazing and the HD is awesome! I use hdmi cables for an upconverter and hd cable box.The picture quality on regular channels is better than samsung, sharp, misubishi. Analog cable is clearer but no hd capability. It has a built in hd antenna but it quit workin after a few months.
Summary: ok. Lets say this: another impulsive buy. I had a bad day, next thing you know, I was gazing at tvs in best buy. I didn't know much at all about the differences 720, 1080, plasma, lcd. etc etc. So I learned as much as possible in say, a 4 hour time span and this was the tv I picked. I also loved the sale price(would NEVER buy one unless it was on sale, so I had the pick of the litter...of what was currently on sale at the time).
Summary: I am happy that most people who gave good reviews for this tv are happy, sadly I am not one of them. I bought this tv back in march 2008. two months later, a red vertical line showed up on the screen. I called Lg since of course it is under warranty and they sent a repairman to diagnos the problem. turns out the entire screen had to be replaced.
Summary: Overall I'm satisfied with this product (especially since I got it on sale at Best Buy for $999.99), but I would not pay full price for it. I did my research and understood that you need HD cable to get the full experience. Our local cable company however only offers 19 channels. The difference between a "regular channel" and an HD channel are drastic and I'm extremely disappointed with the regular programming.
