The USB drive does not support external hard drives
7 May 2013
Summary: I bought this TV in order to hook my external harddrive up and watch movies and shows.. as apposed to my normal HDMI to computer. (I wanted to free up my computer a bit so I could work and watch movies etc.) Sadly after many calls to LG and Amazon no one could figure out the problem and I just ended up sending the TV back. LGs customer servers is 5/5 and so is amazons. I know that make good products... this one sadly just did not do what I thought it did.
Summary: I have several Panasonic plasma TVs. I needed a cheaper TV for a short period where I am living temporarily. It came on time and installed in a zippy. But I am not happy with the picture quality. Lot of motion blurr. I use directv satellite programs. I guess part of the reason is I do not have HD package. Not sure if I needed that with drectv. But, DVD playback is fine. Sound is not really good.
Summary: The TV is a good quality tv. I give it3 stars because this TV is not good if u want to have an audio output such as surround sound or even hook up a headset to it. Also tv comes with a USB port but that is only good for photos and music and doesnt allow you to watch videos from an external hard drive and as a deployed soldier this TV will do you NO good because as you know we all have movies on an external hard drive.
Summary: We bought this as a 3rd set so the lack of features was not a hassle except for the lack of an audio out - I really need to feed "flat" flatscreen audio through an external system. But, having said that, the audio on this system is not bad - it's fuller and bassier than many flatscreens. Only 2 HDMI inputs could be a hassle for most folks, though - I mean, what would it have cost to have provided just one more...???
