Summary: 1st LG ever and it was great until it wasn't. Turned the TV off one night and it died. LG was very responsive when I called them on a Saturday and sent a tech out THAT day. Problem is that he couldn't fix it and when he called in for additional support, there was no response. 1 part was ordered and did not solve the problem. A new part has been ordered and we'll see if that works. The TV was manufactured in January 2014.
Summary: I'm not a video geek. I can't speak to minor display artifacts and such. And I'm switching from a 27" CRT stereo TV to this flat-screen, HDTV with much bigger display. Generally, I find the viewing experience to be pleasant, the picture clear, the sound quite adequate. I feed my DVR, DVD player, and Wii in the various ports and I imagine that with a Smart TV and video streaming available, I'll never buy a Blu-Ray player.
Summary: This is my first HD tv. I was replacing an older analog tv, and wanted great value for the money and I got that. There is a bit of an issue hooking up an older receiver, but that can be solved with an adapter. Excellent picture, easy to use, lots of features.
LOVE this model LG .... BUT WHAT IS WITH THE PRICE INCREASE???
7 March 2014
Summary: I have this model TV in the 60 inch and LOVE IT!! I wanted to buy the same model (LN5700 Smart TV) in the 39". The price - just last week (2/26/14) - was $474.36 and this week has gone up to $529.00 - a 10% March price markup. I guess I will now have to buy a different brand. I just can't make myself pay an extra $54 when I KNOW this TV was sold at the lower price just last week.
Summary: I can't add much onto the other reviews. I primarily ordered this to use as a computer monitor / HTPC display and have information for anybody else who wants to use it this way. To see text clearly, set the sharpness all the way to zero. Otherwise the image processing will degrade it. Use the "Just Scan" mode and ensure that your graphics card is not putting out an underscan image.
