Hitachi’s reputation to produce wonderful media devices at down-to-earth prices and the Hitachi 42PD7500 is a fine example of a low priced wonder. It stands tall at 42“ and is a HD Ready Plasma TV with a difference! The difference is the addition of Analogue and Digital Terrestrial (DTT) Tuners. The performance in both the analogue and digital modes is powerful and this sets it apart from most of the other televisions in the same range. The digital and the analogue mode also make the 42PD7500 useful for serious viewing and enhance the quality of reception, sound, and picture.

The 42PD7500 not only has HDMI input but also a DVI input, which means you will have double the fun. You will have two digital high definition feeds plus you can also access analog HD by using the component video inputs. Some of the other inputs include S-video, stereo audio in and out, and headphone socket. The looks are not special, but the features of the 42PD7500 are classy. Hitachi has some real tricks up its sleeves and it shows through the advanced picture processing enabled in this model. The picture master processing system is in the center that enables an all digital image scaling and at the same time adjusts brightness and contrast for individual sections of a picture. Apart from this, there is a built in Alternate lighting of surfaces (ALiS) panel, which is compatible at 1024 X 1024.

The on-screen menus in the 42PD7500 are intuitive and easy to operate. Due to the high-def capabilities, the screen produces well saturated and vibrant images and even the pictures from the analogue tuner are displayed in fine details. The only drawback is the contrast and the deep black levels are not deep enough. But the 42PD7500 is a television that delivers a killer performance!
