Excerpt: My Wife and I were getting ready to celebrate our wedding anniversary (48 years) when we decided to treat ourselves to a new television; after all we had our existing one for more years than I care to remember. Of we went shopping for a TV, we eventually arrived at a well known TV retailer, this after many visits to large and small stores, and very tired feet. After much checking and testing we eventually decided on the Hitachi 42PD6600 HD ready, slim and flat screen.
Excerpt: Right, I picked up my Hitachi earlier today, and wow, what a TV! It is a 42 inch Plasma TV, which means it has a glass screen instead of a "film" like those LCDs, which means it weighs a lot, but once it is in position, it is worth the sore back of getting in there. I use it with a Sky HD+ box, which means I get the full use of the High Definition this TV has. Now, the HD...
Pros: Large screen, extremely well built, beautiful cosmetics
Try and go with another manfacturer if possible, but this TV is pretty decent.

Excerpt: This TV is currently being used in the living room, and I have to say that it is not all that great. First of all, this plasma only features 1 HDMI port, which for today's standards is not very good at all. Secondly, this TV only supports resolutions of up to 1080i, which means no Full HD gaming or Full HD channels from Sky or Freeview. This may not be that bad for some, but for me it is an annoying feature as I like to play PS3 and watch Blu-Ray movies in 1080p.
Excerpt: I purchased this tv brand new approximately just over a year ago as I felt my previous 32 inch was too small and could do with stepping it up a size. My main reasoning behind purchasing a hitachi was the very reasonable price. My first impressions of this were that it was a very good looking tv for the price, it has a nice sleek black gloosy finish to it, with a light blue button on the front as the receptor.
Would suit someone looking for a good HD TV at a low price

Excerpt: We have had this TV just over 4 years at the time of typing this. Over that 4 years we have not had a single problem with the TV. As its a plasma, with the amount of time the TV is on, children watching it in the day and myself on the evening, I'm surprised it has lasted this long. Having only one HDMI port on the back, we have had to purchase a HDMI switcher which can be quite costly. The sound quality isn't bad but a surround sound is a must.
Excerpt: I purchased a Hitachi 42PD6600 plasma TV from new back in 2005. I began to notice the notorious intermittent "red mist" fault unfortunately just after the warranty period of a year was up. This annoying fault makes the TV very frustrating and almost impossible to watch. After sending much correspondence and having heated conversations with Hitachi Consumer Affairs Department explaining that this is a design fault, Hitachi still made it apparent that I had to personally...
Excerpt: i had this tv 2 years ago and at the time it was pretty good, until you start finding some of the faults with it! one of which was i found that the tv was always burning images on the screen even when you turn the tv off you can still see them. My second fault with it which is prehaps the biggest is the arrangements of the sockets on the back of the television , in more precise detail the positioning of the pc input and my reasoning behind this is because i bought vga...
Excerpt: Bought this set approx 2.5 years ago in the days when you had to pay the £1400 price..........overall not disappointed. I've encountered no problems throughout ownership and the build quality seems good. I've currently just got the TV linked up to Sky digital and a dvd player and it copes well with both, however when watching sports and films the TV really performs great with nice sharp pictures and colours and good deep blacks (not a variation of grey like you see with...
Pros: Great picture, solid performance and build
Cons: Can't get the Sky remote to operate the TV !
Excerpt: Have to agree with the above. TV is great but picture does improve after a couple of weeks. Imagine the plasma takes a while to settle after transportation. Also find the tv emits some heat as well which helps with the winter heating bill!! Use the TV for High Def TV and also the PS2 and find it excellent.
Excerpt: When I purchased this TV this was the phrase used by the sales assistance in the shop. "It's a TV with a difference". I was not overly convinced by his technique but in a strange way the TV seemed to sell itself to me. It was the lifestyle that came with the TV that seemed to appeal to me. Just the thought of inviting all the lads round and watching the world cup on this baby had me handing over the cheque and waiting for delivery..
