Summary: Had this Tv for 4 months now and let me say this is my first LCD TV because all of my other TVs are Plasma 1080's. The reason I bought this Tv was because [...] had a really good deal with the rebate. One of the biggest dislikes I can honestly say about it is the distortion when watching it at a angle. All of my other TVS you can view the tv at any angle and it was just as clear as if you where sitting in front of it.
Summary: The size was correct to fit my needs. But what a loss, picture worse than a crt based set, sound not special, just not worth keeping. Hope that Amazon and Tiger direct stand by the product. Better to spend the money to ship it back than to keep a substandard product. Who ever wrote positive reults must have received a product unlike mine. Buyer keep your money in your pocket, this is not worth anything.
Why Doesn't Anyone Say Anything About the Aspect Ratio?
iohokie "iohokie", Amazon
7 December 2009
Summary: Come on, seriously. Hasn't anyone noticed that this TV has a 16:10 aspect ratio? All other HD sets are 16:9, and none of the cable or satellite companies broadcast in 16:10, nor does this set correct for the odd aspect ratio. I can't believe that nobody has complained about the fact that this tv stretches all the pictures vertically, making all the people look slightly taller and skinnier.
Summary: At first glance, this should be a great versatile unit. As a TV, it should play back full 1080p (16:9 aspect ratio). However, the widescreen display is less than optimal for use as a monitor, so the ability to display 1920 x 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio) should have made this perfect for double duty. However, there's a major issue in the design. A 16:9 signal on a 16:10 set should have black bars at top and bottom, but this set doesn't automatically do that.
Summary: Very nice picture. QAM works fine. Does fine in computer monitor mode. Gotchas: Disabled channels reappear. I keep getting Hispanic and infomercial one enabled again that I have zero interest in. Channels flip at times. I'll be watching NBC and it goes to another NBC and channel switch stops working. I have to select a new channel to get control back. That might be Comcast. The remote is evidently using proprietary codes.
Summary: Hannspree HT09 28-Inch LCD HDTV Television I was in the market for a new TV to replace my failing old 26". After reading the 6 reviews for this set on amazon.com, I thought this was an ideal set. The price was reasonable and seemed a good deal for an HD TV. It was a little larger than my old one, yet would fit in my entertainment center. The size is the only good thing about it. This is my first HD set and I am not happy with it at all.
