Summary: I am new to astronomy and had been using a borrowed 10" Dob while I decided what type of scope I wanted to purchase. I decided on the SkyQuest XX12 for my first scope, and I'm glad I did. The scope is quite a value and included some very nice components that minimize the need to "Upgrade".
Summary: Awesome, quality product, especially for price. For push to, large aperature, portable scope, amazing! It is not an Obsession, but being fortunate enough to observe through both manufacturers scopes, product with price cannot be beat!
Summary: I got this scope about 2 months ago but due to heat/haze and weather only used it a couple of times. Last night I finally was able to properly align on 2 guide stars, hit the TOUR button on the controller and WOW. That's all I can say...
Summary: I spent over a month looking for which telescope to purchase. I decided to spend a little more than I planned and bought the 12" Orion Skysquest Truss Telescope. It was like Christmas when I got all those boxes off the UPS truck.
Summary: I received my XX12 two weeks ago...I have yet to get the scope to accurately point to any objects. For me, the instructions are somewhat vague and I may not have tightened the "lock" nut "just right". It has , so far been a very frustrating experience for me.
Summary: The scope arrived very quickly, and extremely well protected in three boxes. After opening (and unpacking) them, I turned the largest of them over and used it as a "workbench" for constructing the telescope. That arrangement worked out very well.
Summary: The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I had the telescope assembled in about 2 hours. The optics are outstanding! This is a great telescope for beginners and experienced astronomers alike.
Summary: Let me start by saying I am entirely new to astronomy, though I have used a few scopes in my life and listened to their owners try to explain their operation, as well as how to figure out what you are looking at, rarely getting past a quick look and a "neat".
