Summary: I've always preferred the Orion "Push To" Computerized Dobs and Object Locator over other forms of GOTO scopes. No loud motors, and requiring only a 9volt battery instead an external power source, and exceptionally accurate if you've done your initial vertical leveling so that the optical tube is perpendicular to the azimuth axis of the base. The two star alignment can be done faster than my other "GOTO" automated telescope.
Summary: When I bought my Orion 8" Dobsonian I decided to spring for the extra $ for the IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator. For me, it was a good choice. Intially, I had a difficult time learning how to operate the system but once I mastered it, I was able to locate numerous objects I never would have been able to locae on my own. You have to be patient and realize that it may not be exact.
Summary: I bought this for my dob and once you get past the learning stage it is very easy to use and quick to setup. I found it to be very accurate and would recommend this to anyone wanting to buy a dobsonian. (Note from Orion: The Intelliscope Object Locator is compatible only with the SkyQuest Intelliscope line of Dobsonians.
Summary: This computer work excellently finding objects. It does have problem if the scope is not leveled correctly. Certain time the computer has problems working. But over it good well for the the XT 10. (Note from Orion: The Intelliscope must be level when setting the position of the vertical stop knob. Once set correctly the Object Locator should be accurate even on sloped surfaces.
Summary: I found it very hard to set it up with my SkyView Pro 127 Maksutov Cassegrain, the installation and set up manual was very poorly explained. BEWARE - Once a year is up, so long by-by $$$$ end of warranty. It is an extensive, time spending experience every time it is to be set up. Once it is set up, it does work up to it's standards. It does get close enough to search a little the find your object.
Summary: I have the COL for my Orion XTI 10 and it works flawlessly very easy to use and set up a must have if you are limited on time when you are observing or just want to "show of" in front of friends and family very well built and worth every penny.
