Meade Standard Field Tripod

ReikiDave, opticsplanet.com
15 March 2010
  • Summary: I bought this tripod to replace an older model Meade standard field tripod damaged in shipping. The old model had two tighteners per leg, the new one has only one on each leg. With a heavy, expensive scope mounted on it... I'd feel better with the two, just in case!
  • Pros: Very solid feel
  • Cons: two tighteners on each leg now reduced to one.

Meade 10" LX90 ACF

John, opticsplanet.com

  • Summary: Somewhat heavier than I thought it would be; good optics; autostar is easy to use. Setup and collimation is a bit of a chore.
  • Pros: shows objects well, easy to find objects
  • Cons: setup and collimation takes about 1/2 hour

Meade 10" LX90 GPS Telescope with UHTC w/ GPS & LNT, Meade Autostar Computer Controller 1010-90-61

  • Summary: I bought the Meade LX90GPS 10 inch. The quality of the image is amazing. It will blow your mind. However, the weight of the telescope is an issue. I suppose that is the obvious trade-off with telescopes. I can barely lift it myself. Its really a 2 person operation.

Meade 10" LX90 GPS Telescope with UHTC w/ GPS & LNT, Meade Autostar Computer Controller 1010-90-61

  • Summary: Wonderful technology. It talks to you, tells you the date and time and location and tells you all about the stars and things you view in the sky. This is highly recommended. The only problem is it is a little bit on the heavy side; other then that it's great!
