Meade 12 inch LX-200 is an Awesome scope

Anne A, Orion Telescopes & Binoculars
18 February 2013
  • Excerpt: i Bought my LX-200 a few days ago. It came in the alloted time. it was well worth the money. Telescope.com did a great job of getting my scope to me. All of it went smoothly. the LX-200 got tehre thursday afternoon i was out with it that night. the details you see with the 12" aperture was outstanding. it a heavy scope but not bad as you hear. 72 pounds and the handles made it easy to move around. the tripod is a heavy duty and is very stable.
  • Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: I just recieved my 12" LX200 ACF gps yesterday. it had been raining and was cloudy. but i set the tripod up just incase. as it got dark it looked as if i would nto get the first night. but around 8: 30pm it started to clear. from then on set up was quick easy. the scope was not that bad to move. it could get heavy at 75 pounds on the mount and tube. but i was able to easily move it place it on the tripod bolt it down wiht no issues. The optics were great.

Big portable telescope

Eli, Orion Telescopes & Binoculars
18 August 2011
  • Excerpt: This is the largest portable telescope I can picture. Any larger and it will be best in a permanent location. I bought this thinking I'll be able to set up myself. Maybe I can but I do not want to risk dropping it and have always had assistance setting up. It barely fits in my SUV. If you are a beginner, do not expect to see much on your first night. You first need to do all sorts of calibration and training. And good luck with the GPS getting a signal.
  • Pros: Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Difficult to Use
