Great Gift for kids and beginners, we are budding astronomers now!

11 May 2012
  • Excerpt: I got this for my kids, and they loved it! With a little bit of help from dad, the scope was set up quite quickly (Within half an hour, by the kids themselves!). Finding the moon was very easy, and we all marvelled at how clear the moon looks. We are still learning the loops in astronomy but this is definitely a good starting point for us. Now the kids all want one for their room so that they can show it off to their friends (Kids are aged 5, 8 and 11).
  • Pros: light, price, portability

Excellent first telescope, but you get what you pay for

  • Excerpt: It doesn't get much simpler to use than this. Putting it together takes only a few minutes, and you can view terrestrial and celestial objects easily. The Barlow lens is very difficult to use as focusing it can be a real pain (very motion sensitive), but the 20mm and 4mm lenses are easy and straight-forward to use. You can get good, crisp images of the Moon on even poor visibility nights, while planetary viewing needs clear skies and a fair bit more patience.
  • Pros: portability, light weight, great first telescope
