Nice Beginner Scope

Nick, Orion Telescopes & Binoculars
18 May 2014
  • Excerpt: I have read so many reviews that don't mention anything about the actual telescope and how it works. Many just talk about the product arriving on time and in good condition. Well I have used this telescope for over a year, and overall it is a nice telescope. This was my first real telescope. It is very easy to use, once you familiarize yourself with it. It has slow motion controls which really come in handy. The tripod is ok.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Poor Lens Quality, Unstable

I did well in my choice

  • Excerpt: As an amateur astronomer, a beginner. I require assistance in setting up and using this scope. I knew this from the beginning. Am joining a star gazer group for moral and technical help. I found out that my telescope is stronger than what most have now. Plus it's motor drive adaptable. This is what I wanted and it's exactly what I got. I'm happy. It will take a while for me to get the hang of this. A lot to learn to do properly.
  • Pros: Compact, Expandable, Lightweight
  • Cons: Help As A Beginner Needed

Could have been better for the price

excellency23, Ebay
4 March 2014
  • Summary: I bought this for my husband and he really likes it, but it would have been better if it came with better instructions on how to put it together and how to focus it. This is the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars. It arrived on time, looks very good, but not very functional without clear instructions.

Good starter telescope

Steve M, B&H Photo
27 December 2013
  • Excerpt: This is a good telescope for starters who want good quality at a fair price. The instructions are a bit confusing and could use some better pictures, but ok. The quality of the telescope itself and hardware are quite good, especially for the price. The weakest piece of the package, as others have noted is the spotting scope. Overall well worth the money!
