Excerpt: I’ve been an active amateur astronomer since my teens (that’s over 40 years now) and I also was employed by Celestron as their customer service manager from 1976 to the end of 1978. I have owned and used a wide variety of telescopes, including basic refractors, Newtonian reflectors, Schmidt Cassegrains (SCT’s), Maksutov Cassegrains (MCT’s) and apochromatic refractors (APO’s).
Excerpt: The Nexstar 6SE only costs about $700 in North America..Maybe these prices are wrong..I don't know.....Anyway these are amazing telescope packages .I bought one about a year ago,and it's done everything that they advertise it'll do.
Excerpt: This is my first telescope, and it's been a huge learning experience for me. One bit of advice that I want to pass on to anyone getting a GOT telescope, have an external power source, do not rely in the internal batteries. They will move the motor and allow the telescope to slep, but for some reason the GOTO function will be like a drunken uni student: all over the place. The telescope hunts and looks, never being able to find the target.
Excerpt: Love this scope. I did a lot of research before buying and read a lot of reviews. I’m a fan of technology but was on a budget. I have this connected to a laptop running some shareware astrology software (Stellarium). I use an old USB GPS plugged into the laptop for GPS interface (just about any PC connectable GPS could be used). You will need some extra leads and/or adapters to do the laptop stuff.
