Excerpt: Finally got the SE 5 outdoors lastnight and sighted it on Jupiter for a quick solar system align (which worked better than I thought it would). Quick focus and she showed up in the eyepiece with the Galilean moons. I added a 2x barlow to the included 25mm eyepeice and I could see the bands! Even with light pollution being an issue (just outside Omaha) and no filter. Tried the go-to next and looked up M42 (Orion Nebula) and the scope slewed right to it.
Excerpt: This is a great first telescope it has everything you need and comparatively inexpensive. Even though it is only 5", for most major metro areas it is perfect. A larger scopes suffers from the light pollution unless you can get to very dark and clear conditions which are only available in small remote areas of the US.
Pros: Accurate, Compact, Easy to Use, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Excerpt: The scope arrived and I was excited to start utilizing it but as I was unpacking it I encountered a few problems. Did they ever hear of Quality Control ? First it did not come with an instruction manual which they responded to go to another site and download and when I ask for the "The Sky CD-ROM Software for Windows" I was told to another site and complain there - no luck still do not have software. Yes it is a nice scope but...
Excerpt: MY SHORT REVIEW: This is a great Telescope, Mount and Tripod. It's a good size for portability, it has exceptional image quality, it's easy to use and is made of quality materials. MY LONG REVIEW: On my first night of good seeing and clear skies I was able to see fantastic views of a Waxing Crescent Moon, Jupiter and at least 3 of it's moons and a tiny red spec called Mars.
Pros: Accurate, Compact, Easy to Use, Fun, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Quiet Motor, Stable, Strong Construction
For the price, weight, and seeing ability, you can"t beat it.

Summary: The Celestron NexStar 5SE is maybe the best all arouund telescope in the SE line up. It has plenty of light grabbing ability, light weight enought to travel with and is very easy to use. My friends love it. I love it! My 8 SE is left in the corner a hold lot more now.
Excerpt: Received this today (5 days ahead of the date promised during checkout). Like a kid at Christmas I immediately opened it and set it up in my living room. 1st time took 10 minutes. It functions as advertised with the power-supply I also bought from this site. Simple to assemble, easy to figure out the hand control, adequate instruction manual (answered my questions -- I don't read directions until stumped), and smother motor operations.
Excerpt: This is my second telescope. My first was an 11" SCT. I say was because I sold it and bought the NEXSTAR 5" SE instead. The 11" had great viewing, but I had great difficulty getting the GOTO function to properly align. View was great, but I had to manually track things. Plus it was one heavy son of a gun. I unpacked the NEXSTAR and had to wait 3 days for a clear enough night. Setup was very easy and only took a few minutes as advertised.
