Great telescope, terrible software, no accessories.

Summary: I am happy my husband and I purchased this for our introduction into the hobby. The tripod is sturdy and well-made. The telescope itself is simply amazing. The included instructions made putting it together and getting it working very easy and took only about an hour. I would love to give it an excellent rating but there are several drawbacks. This telescope doesn't come with basic accessories such as an AC adapter.
Excerpt: I ordered the 4SE online without having looked at the telescope in person. It is a quality product, the cost is relative to the quality of the telescope. I will first list all of the things I like about it, and then all of the things I do not like. First, the packaging and the software are great. They really take care to send this too you in a sturdy box. The manual that comes on a CD-Rom is helpful, also.
Pros: Good Packaging, Good software, Quality Lenses
Excerpt: I bought this for casual observing and to get my kids interested in astronomy. It fits the bill perfectly. Super compact, easy to transport and set up, and easy to get observing soon after setup. Very solidly built. Better optics than the 3-in refractor I owned previously. Only optical limitation is the size; the collimation was good from the factory and the glass shows no flaws. I star-tested it as soon as I took it out of the box and it looked good.
Pros: Compact, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I truly wanted to give this scope a better rating. Its a great scope, great views, [...]Scope does not come with the power adapter and no one has them in stock. I tried to get it from celestron directly but was told they dont have them and are not going to have them so i was forced into buying the power tank. Tho the power tank is a good thing to have I was not ready to make that investment yet. ALSO...[...
Pros: Accurate, Comfortable Eyepiece, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Excerpt: It came very well packed in a secure box. I read the directions to a T and got it all set up. I put the batteries in (the correct way) (and they were new). I have no power. I changed the batteries to be sure and still I cant get it to power up. I called them and have been placed on hold again. They havent answered me via email either. Im sure its a good unit. I just want it to work or have them send me a replacement.
Summary: I had the opportunity to try one of these telescopes out recently. It is nicely portable and like most Maksutov designs it produces high magnification with a focal ration of 13. This makes it particularly suited to planetary viewing and also for splitting double stars. It's less well suited to deep space objects due to the same high focal ratio as the views tend to be a bit too narrow for some of the larger DSO objects.
Summary: I used this scope for about 10 hours in total over two weeks before I returned it for a refund. This was my second scope, my first being a cheap 4 inch newtonian reflector. I decided to go for this scope to try some photography, as my first scope didn't have a tracking motor, and this one had a built in wedge offering both the simplicity of alt-az setup for obsevations, and polar alignment for photography.
