Excerpt: This is a holiday gift for my son and young grandson. While a precision instrument it doesn't appear too daunting to use. I am sure they will get many hours of enjoyment looking at the night sky. I was amazed at how quickly it shipped and am totally pleased with the product and this company..
Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Excerpt: This was a gift from my wife for my 76th birthday.
I thought this was going to be a major undertaking,
but it proved me wrong. This is my second scope over
my lifetime. I'm setting down going through the instructions
before I go out here in Maine. We have the night sky, ocean,
and mountains to look at much closer than ever before.
Best gift ever .
Pros: Accurate, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Summary: Great Value for Money...bought as gift for my Dad, he is very pleased! Mostly beginner status with telescopes, pretty easy to set up and easy to use, brilliant view...everything looks great and we haven't even taken it off our back porch yet. Excited for summer to go stargazing in a dark field. It's bigger and more sturdy than I had gathered from the picture online.
Pros: Creat picture, very sturdy, a bit bigger and more professional looking than I had thought from pictures online, easy to set-up and easy to use, DEFINITELY reccomend the EQ model
Cons: So far...no cons. I read in other reviews that the star-finder wasn't the best, but I really haven't tried it and haven't heard any complaints from my Dad. It's not like you can't use other means to locate stars either...in my opinion.
Summary: The telescope's OTA is lightweight and the dew cap is coming removed in hand completely whenever I remove the lens cap. Instead of pressure fitting this dew cap, Celestron must have fixed it firmly to the OTA. The counterweights have a pin stuck at the middle and it's certainly annoys me everytime when I load them to the shaft. But, Celestron says that, it's the way they produce the telescope.
Excerpt: I bought this telescope because my 5 year old loves outerspace, but I didn't want to go get some piece of garbage from [...] that has less power than my cell phone camera. I know nothing about telescopes, so I cant really compare this to others. However, if you are a first timer who wants to get into stargazing, but not quite sure what to buy, this is probably the route you want to go.
Summary: An excellent telescope for anyone just starting out their adventures in astronomy. Easy to setup. Fairly easy to move around, although I recommend closing the tripod first and removing the counterweights if being used by children to prevent tipping.
Excerpt: I have owned this telescope for a few months. It's great! It's my first scope, when I first got it, I worried that it would be confusing to align, and after many nights of pointing and seeing whatever I could, I finally used a compass to align it. It couldn't be easier! I would like to buy more eye peices. You can just barely see some rings around Saturn, the Moon looks amazing, especially the terminator line. This is a perfect scope! Easy to use and it is very solid.
Pros: Accurate, Easy to balance, Easy to set up, Heavy, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Easy to assemble, watch the U Tube video, helps a lot. First nite great Moon details, then Jupiter and the 4 moons. Saturn to low on the horizon. Would like to see the slow motion cables longer, but with the E.Q. mount you have the flexibility to make them closer to the eyepiece.
