  • Excerpt: Good value for a beginner. The tripod is extremely sturdy and the telescope is great for terrestrial viewing but for celestial viewing I would now spending more on a telescope with larger aperture and light gathering ability.

  • Excerpt: It's okay for a beginner. A little difficult to keep steady. The scope doesn't always stay where you set it.

  • Excerpt: Bought this telescope for my 6 yr old God Son's birthday. He loves it. The moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn really excited him. For an entry level scope, I highly recommend this one for the kids!

Nice entry level refractor

  • Summary: If you are new in astronomy, this is a good choice to begin with. 70mm is just nice, not too small but adequate for simple astronomy observation. Coated optics have great constrast and transmission. Included is 25 & 9mm Kneller eyepiece, which is quite good in quality. Tripod is 1.25'' sturdy enough for simple observation. Tracking will be a small problem as alt-alz mount might be difficult to move around manually.
  • Pros: Low chromatic aberation
  • Cons: Small objective

Easy to learn and use.

  • Summary: A well made and functional scope. Ideal for a first time novice armature astronomer. The tripod is sturdy and quick to set up. There are no real negatives for this budget scope, but the axis and tracking mechanism could work a little better, not as smooth as it should be. All in all, still worth five stars in my estimation.
