  • Excerpt: Tired of Go-To malfunctions. Go back to basics with this very good motorised equatorial mount. Very well constructed with a 130mm reflector at a price no one can beat. Perfect scope to learn the basics of the night sky. Celestron stands behind the product too.
  • Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

Looks pretty good for a beginner scope

Billy James, B&H Photo
31 May 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this telescope after doing quite a bit of research on several types of telescope. For the most bang for your bucks, this telescope could have been a very good choice. You get a relatively fast optic (F/5, i.e. brighter image for the same focal length) and a relatively long focal length.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight
  • Cons: Difficult to Use, Poor Lens Quality, Unstable

Good Tube, Mediocre Mount

Diego, B&H Photo
20 May 2012
  • Excerpt: Overall I think this telescope has a lot of potential for what it cost. However were I to go through the process again I might just buy the optical tube and get a sturdier mount, with better eyepieces. When you're buying a first telescope, you always go in with dreams of Hubble in your head.
  • Pros: Good Tube, Good value
  • Cons: Difficult to Use, Poor Lens Quality, Unstable

  • Excerpt: I am just a beginning astronomer, and this is just perfect. I use it on the back deck on clear nights, and it is excellent in the optics department.
