Summary: Compared to the Zync Z909 that we’d tested lately, this is a much better attempt by the company. Bringing in the latest ICS version of the Android operating system to an average 7-inch tablet priced at Rs.8,990 is commendable and within the reach of masses. However, the tablet leaves a lot of room for improvement, like the screen resolution alignment, better battery, robust build and more customization from Zync.
Summary: This is a budget tablet, and it clearly shows in the build quality, performance and even the display. But at this price, the real enticing factor is that it has ICS on-board. While there are a whole host of connectivity ports as well, but there is no getting away from the budget build quality.
Pros: ICS experience on a budget, Real world performance better than what benchmarks show, Decent battery life, USB hub supports broadband dongles
Cons: No Bluetooth, Build quality isn't good, Display not optimised
Conclusion: The Zync Z990 tablet is somewhat reasonably priced for the given set of tech-specs and capabilities, and manages to widen the sheer horizon of competing alternatives for astute end-users. It is yet another one in a string of tactically priced Android tabs, and remains your quintessential brilliant do-it-all tab that does not create a dent in your wallet!
