Summary: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Sony no longer supporting this product. I "had" a working unit until I call Sony's support line about the Sony Dash website. The support personal actually bricked my device and now the "escalated" specialists won't return the support calls to fix it.
Summary: I need to put together some items just in case something bad happen within my surrounding area. Something to protect my family and move gear and food to a bug out location fast without waiting at the last second.
Summary: I agree with the other Sept. 15, 2012 reviewer/user, this product is now useless as of yesterday (at least, for me). I woke-up yesterday -9/14/2012- and saw this message on my DASH screen: "Failed to authorized: No response from the server. Please visit [...] for help with this problem".
Sony Dash now useless, Sony ignores customers left out in the cold
15 September 2012
Summary: Do NOT buy this product as it's apparently end-of-life! Yet another device that had promise only to be ruined by Sony's mismanagment. The Dash is (was?) a luxury alarm clock developed by a company named Chumby who also produced models of their own.
Summary: The Amazon Instant Video application self-removes itself from any devices which still have it. Amazon removed their support for these devices. I have four of these; they are a bit awkward at times, and not worth the price, but they were useful for a few of the apps.
Summary: I BOUGHT THIS ITEM BECAUSE OF ALL THE RAVE IT WAS GETTING .... I RECIEVED IT BRAND NEW IN THE BOX FROM SONY AND ONLY TO FIND OUT I NEEDED TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE ... YOU HAVE TO CALL SONY'S 800 NUMBER AND GIVE THEM THE SERIAL NUMBER AND THEY GO STEP BY STEP ON WHAT TO DO ... WORKING PERFECTLY FINE
Summary: I hate this product, I hate Sony, I hate Chumby Pros: Large screen, decent resolution, great contrast (at night the black is almost black when you lower the brightness all the way) Tells time Gives the weather report Speakers are okay Connects to pandora [but not as an alarm] The idea of a facebook...
Summary: My wife has been using a cheap Emerson alarm clock for years. The buttons have broken off and it was time for an upgrade. I gave her my Bose wave radio, and I decided to buy the Sony Dash. I got a great deal on this from Amazon, under $100 for brand new.
Summary: I use this as an alarm clock that provides personal and customized internet at my fingertips when I wake up each morning. The price is a little steep but the convenience factor makes it worth it for me.
