Great Alarm Clock, Terrible Tablet

jakester42, Viewpoints
9 September 2012
  • Excerpt: Don't get me wrong. I really liked this device. It was a great alarm clock. I loved that I could stream Netflix and Internet Webisodes, like Howcast and Scam School. I even found a really great sleep sound app. Unfortunately, the "Over 1000 apps" were mostly crap. The streaming internet radio was extremely limited, and I couldn't get the local radio stations I wanted to listen to.

"A Clock That Rocks!"

5 October 2011
  • Pros: Variable online multimedia options, wide variety of apps, and a really cool bedroom/kitchen accessory.
  • Cons: The device needs some options for accessory expand-ability. I wish you could get more creative on customizing the display.

  • Cons: There should be a battery back up.

1 July 2011
  • Pros: Well designed case and bright screen, good developer support, flexible system, USB support, decent little speakers, established community (Chumby), free apps, built-in apps are excellent
  • Cons: Slow startup, automatic light adjustment is not very good, requires software update right out of the box, some of the outside apps are a bit lame and unstable, USB won't read external hard drives, requires some time to get the outside the apps to work cor

Sony Dash Personal Internet Viewer

13 June 2011
  • Excerpt: I purchased the Dash Personal Internet Viewer from Sony a few weeks ago and since then I’ve been a very satisfied customer. My expectations of this device were properly set by reading Amazon reviews of the product, so I knew what I was getting into first hand. In my opinion, this device is NOT a fully fledged personal Internet viewer, at least not in the real sense of the word. Internet content is very restricted by Sony , so you can’t just view any pages on it.

"Think of it as the coolest alarm clock ever (so far)"

Placidair, CNET
29 May 2011
  • Pros: Wake up and the weather is right there on your screen, Wake up to a variety of alarm noises, internet radio, streaming video, etc. Alarms are programmable to an extreme level that makes it very convenient, even if your schedule is a bit nutty. You can
  • Cons: Screen is a big small for video if you're trying to watch anything HD. Touch screen could be more responsive. The converter on the power cord is heavy enough that it pulls away from the outlet and needs to be plugged back in once in a while.
