Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Review
1 October 2013
Excerpt: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has an 8.9in capacitive touchscreen but it's the physical design of this latest Android tablet that is quite impressive — the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is described by Samsung as "the world's thinnest mobile tablet" as it measures just 8.6 millimetres thick.
Summary: I really enjoyed my time with the Tab 8.9 4G, and I think its standout features would be two parts. First, its lightweight and secondly, its 4G connectivity. You're really only going to get the 4G version of the Tab 8.9 for the 4G, which is why 4G has been covered so much in this review.
Conclusion: All-in-all, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a decent tablet. If you are looking for a size between the popular 10-11” tabs around and the smaller 7” variety, this is definitely something to take a look at. As I mentioned earlier, it felt great in my hands.
Conclusion: With Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) just around the corner, the entire interface of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 may change soon, but from the looks of it, Google’s new OS appears to take some cues (like the font) from Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
Summary: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a great addition to the Galaxy Tab lineup. The hardware packs an elegant and sleek design combined with great performance, in a thinner and lighter chassis than the Apple tablet. the smaller size (8.9 inch) can be great for road warriors who need to travel light.
Conclusion: Samsung appears to be trying for every single size device here in the smart mobile world, with 10.1-inches, 8.9, 7.7, 7 , 5.3 , 5 , 4.65 , 4.52 , 4.5 , 4.3 , and the list goes on and on. No matter what you want, Samsung has you covered in AT LEAST the display size department.
