Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

AVForums
9 December 2012
  • Conclusion: With the tablet market so crowded these days, Apple's once commanding position is being eroded by Android tablet manufacturers such as Google, Samsung and Asus. Whilst the iPad is still clearly the biggest seller, the options for those that prefer the Android operating system or perhaps don't have the budget for an iPad are increasing month by month. So for a tablet to create an advantage it must have something that prospective buyers find attractive.
  • Pros: Great quality screen for the price, Cheap, Highly configurable, Great range of apps, Easy to use, MicroSD support
  • Cons: Very poor audio, Only 3MP rear camera, Struggles with some of the more graphically intensive tablet games, Google Play store should better identify tablet optimised apps

Review Samsung 10.1" Galaxy Tab 2 Tablet/MID

Notebookcheck
25 June 2012
  • Summary: Little progress. The Galaxy Tab 2 series represents Samsung’s revision to its successful Galaxy Tab family and features models in 7.0 and 10.1 inch sizes based on Android 4.0. Upon review, we found that the revamped devices cannot compete with other current tablets.
  • Pros: long battery life, fast 3G module, modest weight, decent display, We especially liked the long battery life and the very good 3G module . These two factors make Samsung's 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 what it should be: a mobile device.
  • Cons: poor sound, mean performance, The tablet could use a bit more power . We are baffled as to why Samsung chose the relatively slow TI OMAP 4430 and not its own, stronger Exynos.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

BigPictureBigSound
19 June 2012
  • Conclusion: Is my repeatedly-thrown gauntlet between new iPad and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 a fair challenge? They feature roughly the same dimensions and both are available in 16GB capacity, with this entry-level (Wi-Fi-only) Apple option coming in at a nice neat $100 above the one and only Samsung choice, so for sheer value Samsung is the winner, although those craving the summit of slickness and a head-turning screen might have a harder time deciding.
  • Pros: Gotta love that microSDHC card slot, Superior onboard stereo sound, That IR emitter that turns this tablet into a super-mega-ultra remote, in seconds!, Rich, consumer-friendly Google Ecosystem
  • Cons: The screen pales beside the latest competition from Apple, Slightly sluggish to boot, load, Wi-Fi only, no data/carrier options

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

LAPTOP Magazine
13 May 2012
  • Summary: With the addition of a microSD card slot and moving the speakers to the front of the tablet, Samsung has made some nice improvements to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, all while keeping the price below $400 and the battery life really long. Our favorite feature is the ability to use this slate as a smart remote.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review

wired.co.uk

  • Conclusion: It's a step down from the Galaxy Note 10.1 , but the Galaxy Tab 2 offers some serious improvement to its predecessor as a good value Android tablet with Ice Cream Sandwich and a fine screen.
  • Pros: Fine screen, good battery life
  • Cons: Processor's not great, only a 3 megapixel camera

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review

Stuff.tv
11 August 2012
  • Conclusion: So, there's nothing wrong with the well-priced Tab 2 10.1. But neither is it anything special. Given that the iPad has had a significant upgrade since the first Tab's release, and that the Android competition is fiercer than ever, it looks slightly outdated here.
  • Pros: Punchy performance, Good screen
  • Cons: 3MP camera is poor
