Samsung Galaxy Note® 10.1 2014 Edition

Bwbandgeek5, Samsung
20 June 2014
  • Summary: This was the first tablet I was going to own. I say it in past tense because, even though I bought it about a month ago, I've barely had it in my hands. When I first turned it on and started to download my apps, it immediately started overheating. Like, super hot to the touch. Samsung Help(Facebook chat) has been super helpful and really seems like they want to help me and keep me up to date all the way through this process.
  • Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight

Product missing features

Love2Surf, Samsung
18 June 2014
  • Summary: Product runs fast, great display, but a couple of bad items. Takes forever to charge and it does not come with a dedicated HDMI port. It does support HDMI to MHL but I could not get it to charge when connected this way. With the slow charging this is a big problem.
  • Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
  • Cons: slow charging, no hdmi port

Awesome Tablet but does not support 3G areas on Verizon

Dalecwil, Samsung
18 June 2014
  • Summary: Great Tablet and many features but unfortunately it will NOT work in a Verizon (CDMA) 3G area. If you leave a 4G area no connection will be available. Other than that its a great Tablet.
  • Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
  • Cons: Did not meet expectations, no 3g, no cdma

A tablet with phone call capability

pika2000, Amazon
11 June 2014
  • Summary: It is very unfortunate that there are no tablets released in the US that have phone capability. Yes, we have LTE capable tablets, but none of them support the phone function. Samsung doesn't even sell these in the US. These kind of tablets, however, are common in Asia. The one I got from mobilefront is the Hong Kong version. The box is opened when I received it, presumably for them to put in the plug adapter, but the device itself looks untouched.

Great but not using it

  • Excerpt: I had an iPad mini retina. I have seen some surface pro products, too. Looking at several tablets, I choose this device. I talked to several friends including one who work at Samsung electronics and a computer science major before I buy this. Some suggested me just stick with iPad, but I just got this, assuming it would be productive enough for me.
  • Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, wacom pen
  • Cons: battery -hours to charge and always dead, Did not meet expectations, Poor quality, Too Heavy, unstable note app

Disappointed

Travis M., Newegg
25 May 2014
  • Summary: First time Android owner coming from a Windows background. Bought this Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 instead of the Windows Surface Pro. The intended use was checking email, paying bills online, accessing elearning and pearson mastering, saving guitar tabs for later playing, reading ebooks as pdf, and light browsing (like I do here at newegg).
  • Pros: Good battery life
  • Cons: It can't do very much.

Great overall product

Swadi2014, Samsung
16 May 2014
  • Summary: I went from original Note 10.1 to the new 10.1 2014 as soon as they were released. I have enjoyed using the product that it was a no brainier going to new model. It replaced my Livescribe Pen (which is great on its own). The Note worked great until latest release from Google and it got upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4.2. This where I feel the additional price for note looses its value if you want to use it in business setting.
  • Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, android, samsung quality
  • Cons: loss of functionality with 4.4.2, high price comparison to others
