A good and under rated product

Summary: I bought this one with the touch keyboard about 6 months ago and I feel that I'm now ready to review it properly. I won't create my review based on the specs of the device itself, which you may find anywhere, instead I will give you my personal thoughts about the tablet and my personal feelings about it. That being said I'll try to make it as short as possible.
Summary: This is a great device from Microsoft, although there are a few issues, which Microsoft don't seem to be willing to fix. All surface devices do not support Silverlight, which is a Microsoft programme. This means you cant run a number of video applications, with one of them being Lovefilm. Why you cant run a popular MICROSOFT program is not clear. There is also a lack of apps, nowhere near as many as Apple or Android.
Summary: I bought this product, thinking it would be good replacement for my netbook, having 2nd thoughts a lot is not supported on it such as Microsoft Silverlight for watching movies, the printer driver was not compatible even downloaded from manufactures website, Tried downloading from The App store very limited and frustrating still waiting for a reply back from Microsoft spending 300 quid on this was not happy and still not happy.
Summary: I bought this tablet as it had a USB port. It has been a disaster from the beginning. The battery life is short, it is fiddly to plug in, applications are few and inefficient, and Word keeps crashing. Don't waste your money, compared with my Apple I pad which cost about the same it is just not in the same league. I regret having bought it.
Summary: I bought this after my old laptop died, looking for something with tablet touchscreen and aps and portability but with the stronger memory and Microsoft office programs of a laptop. the surface meets the criteria. I'm not expert but it suits my needs. Quite heavy and bigger than most tablets which is good for screen size but less handbag friendly.
A really excellent tablet and good value for money.

Summary: I bought the original Surface RT with Touch keyboard in December when there were good deals following the release of version 2. I have not regretted it for a minute. Although Microsoft has still some work to do, the way my Lumia phone, tablet and Windows 8.1 PC keep in sync with files saved to OneDrive (was SkyDrive) is amazingly convenient. There has been a lot of fuss about fewer apps than on Apple or Android but this is now largely in the past - except for the BBC!!.
Summary: I have had this 'tablet' for little over a year now and am extremely disappointed. Thought I would write this now to warn people of how useless this device is. Pros: Windows 8, USB, SD card slot, Netflix... Cons: No flash or Silverlight... internet explorer, app store, desktop mode, messaging apps, Dnla, Windows 8 does take a bit of getting used to but when you get there it is good, the swipe gesture from the sides are helpful.
