HTC Evo View 4G (Sprint)

27 August 2011
  • Summary: The HTC Evo View 4G puts a new spin on the 7-inch Android tablet, but its high price and smartphone-style OS are a tough sell next to its bigger, cheaper Honeycomb kin.
  • Pros: Fans of 7-inch tablets will appreciate the HTC Evo View 4G's screen quality, durable construction, HD video recording, and unique features, such as digital pen compatibility and HTC's Sense UI customization.
  • Cons: The Evo View 4G is small, thick, and pricey, and isn't running Google's Android 3.0 tablet OS. Its most unique feature, the Magic Pen, may not come included and is expensive to replace.

  • Conclusion: We'll reiterate what we said in our HTC Flyer review. Is it an oversized phone (minus voice) or a really cool tablet? The HTC Flyer is both. It runs the phone version of Android OS and honestly looks like some of HTC's higher end Android smartphones, just bigger. But HTC's software turns this tablet into a compelling offering, especially for less technical types who don't want to hunt for apps that meet their needs.
  • Pros: Portable, pen for notes, data anywhere.
  • Cons: Runs phone OS rather than Honeycomb.

HTC EVO View 4G Review

LAPTOP Magazine
15 June 2011
  • Summary: At first glance, the HTC EVO View 4G has a lot going for it: unique pen input, blazing 4G speeds, and HTC's gorgeous Sense UI. The tablet's main problem is that, with the current software build and microphone, it largely fails as a note-taking device. The minute a student takes the EVO View 4G into a classroom and looks down to find out he's lost his work because he leaned on the bezel is the minute he'll want to return it.
