I very much wanted to like this tablet more than I do

Summary: I very much wanted to like this tablet more than I do. Pros: It is inexpensive (I bought it later in 2014, for $199). And the processor is decent (in general, video playback is good, some casual gaming works well). Cons: The physical build is ok, but after a month or two of use, the pen does not lock in solidly enough to tell the tablet it is there and it goes into pen mode. And the pen, overall, is pretty disappointing.
I have never used Android before and this unit is very smooth and operates great. The only issue I have is the battery ...

Summary: This is of course an android device. I have never used Android before and this unit is very smooth and operates great. The only issue I have is the battery life is only a few hours compared to my iPad which can last for days of intermittent use.

Summary: The colors of the the screen are beautiful. This Tablet has a good sound! I just have a problem with the Adobe Flash version that don't let me see futbol games on line, specifically on vipbox.com
I agree with Consumers Reports, it is a "BEST BUY"

Summary: My first tablet, was looking for one for under $200, with 16GB of storage, looked at the Samsung Tab 3 & 4, also the Acer Tablets .However chose the HP Slate 7 Extreme after seeing it listed as a Best Buy with Consumer Reports. Also this table synced with my first smart phone. Now I use this tablet more then my laptop. When I ordered it, it was $179.00,but now it's $200.
Ok tablet for the price, needs to be a lot cheaper already tho!!!!

Summary: I wanted a nice tablet for myself for work and play, It runs ok its starting to stagger a bit but i think its due to the 1gb of ram memory. which why would you put a tegra 4 with 1gb of ram??????? Anyway i bought this to hold me over until i find another tablet i really wanted. Right now it works and runs my HBO go, Netflix, and Hulu well but it has hiccups at time with chromecast and the does not have a 5ghz band for wifi.
Summary: It's a great tablet but Android is just horrible. Even with the fast quad-core 1.8ghz processor apps will freeze and moving around is slow. I love the two front facing speakers, sounds much better than ipads but I don't know what's wrong with Android why can't they make Android OS faster like iOS? This thing has far more power than an ipad mini but with Android weighing it down it's slooow. Also sucks battery but again I think that's Android.
I don't think a brand like HP should hide 30g on a 7" tablet
26 July 2014
Summary: Both on Amazon and HP website description show weight 0.71 lb. That is 320g, but if you put it on scale, it is 350g. I have tried on different scales, it shows the same 350g. I don't think a brand like HP should hide 30g on a 7" tablet. Because many people like me are compare this Tegra 4 tablet with google Nexus 7 2013 which is 290g. I can bear 320g vs 290g, but if I know it is 350g before I place the order, I wouldn't buy it.
Summary: There are plenty of other reviews on here that hit on all the great features of this tablet and I agree with them. For the money it is the best bang for your buck around. However keep in mind these notes: !. The HP Slate 7 Extreme is unique an you may have some work cut out for you in finding proper cases and screen protectors. The screen protectors were too big and the case I ordered came in incorrectly. - Obviously not the tablets fault. 2.
Summary: A great little product. Don't be fooled by its size, it packs a frikkin' wallop. Highlights include its processing power, the stylus, and the unadvertised fact that it'll stick to a refrigerator. Which is just boss. Downsides are the usb port, its pretty flimsy - be careful when dealing with it, dont try to force it in (thats what she said huehue). Also its a shame the self-facing camera has such a low resolution, but eh. Thats not why you're going to buy this tablet.
