  • Summary: This is of course an android device. I have never used Android before and this unit is very smooth and operates great. The only issue I have is the battery life is only a few hours compared to my iPad which can last for days of intermittent use.

  • Summary: I wanted a nice tablet for myself for work and play, It runs ok its starting to stagger a bit but i think its due to the 1gb of ram memory. which why would you put a tegra 4 with 1gb of ram??????? Anyway i bought this to hold me over until i find another tablet i really wanted. Right now it works and runs my HBO go, Netflix, and Hulu well but it has hiccups at time with chromecast and the does not have a 5ghz band for wifi.

I agree with Consumers Reports, it is a "BEST BUY"

Robert J. Stanek, Amazon
7 August 2014
  • Summary: My first tablet, was looking for one for under $200, with 16GB of storage, looked at the Samsung Tab 3 & 4, also the Acer Tablets .However chose the HP Slate 7 Extreme after seeing it listed as a Best Buy with Consumer Reports. Also this table synced with my first smart phone. Now I use this tablet more then my laptop. When I ordered it, it was $179.00,but now it's $200.

Great tablet but Android killed it.

Ben Stevenson "BenS7", Amazon
6 August 2014
  • Summary: It's a great tablet but Android is just horrible. Even with the fast quad-core 1.8ghz processor apps will freeze and moving around is slow. I love the two front facing speakers, sounds much better than ipads but I don't know what's wrong with Android why can't they make Android OS faster like iOS? This thing has far more power than an ipad mini but with Android weighing it down it's slooow. Also sucks battery but again I think that's Android.

I don't think a brand like HP should hide 30g on a 7" tablet

oandk, Amazon
26 July 2014
  • Summary: Both on Amazon and HP website description show weight 0.71 lb. That is 320g, but if you put it on scale, it is 350g. I have tried on different scales, it shows the same 350g. I don't think a brand like HP should hide 30g on a 7" tablet. Because many people like me are compare this Tegra 4 tablet with google Nexus 7 2013 which is 290g. I can bear 320g vs 290g, but if I know it is 350g before I place the order, I wouldn't buy it.

economical powerhouse

Anthony C Quinnan, Amazon
3 July 2014
  • Summary: A great little product. Don't be fooled by its size, it packs a frikkin' wallop. Highlights include its processing power, the stylus, and the unadvertised fact that it'll stick to a refrigerator. Which is just boss. Downsides are the usb port, its pretty flimsy - be careful when dealing with it, dont try to force it in (thats what she said huehue). Also its a shame the self-facing camera has such a low resolution, but eh. Thats not why you're going to buy this tablet.

Other than a few, small issues, I love it

Robert Countryman "Have a better one", Amazon
17 June 2014
  • Summary: I won't bore you with the nuts and bolts that the other reviews do a much better job of detailing. What I will do is give my concise feelings after having owned this tablet for about a month. PROS: + Stylus + Is fast enough to run what I want to run (mostly multi-tasking for editing and listening to music, and little-to-no gaming) + Speakers are loud enough that I must turn it down in many situations + Price + HP - they are one of my top 3 computer-makers CONS: - Truly...

HP Update 4.3 hosted on their support page.

Alex, Amazon
6 June 2014
  • Summary: Device runs really well, I got this cause people have complained alot about the Tegra Note 7 and the bad quality builds. So far this doesn't creak only issue i see is the ports being too tough for plugging in stuff, same issue i deal with my Galaxy S3. The tablet ships with Android 4.2.2 installed which is fairly dated now. I discovered on the support page for the tablet HP has released a 4.3 update [...
