Conclusion: Though the Stylistic Q550 offers quite a few desirable features like relatively long battery life (up to 7 hours in our tests with the 4 cell battery), security features and a swappable battery, it's sluggish performance makes it hard to recommend. The 10.1" IPS display isn't a beauty to behold thanks to an anti-glare coating and chemical strengthening that make it look a little murky.
Pros: Affordable Windows 7 tablet, lots of enterprise features., Decent battery life for a Windows tablet, replaceable battery, fingerprint scanner, bright display that's outdoor viewable. Quite light for a Windows tablet. Works both with fingers and included stylus.
Cons: Quite slow, no silo for stylus, display looks murky., Very slow, the Intel Atom CPU used in this tablet isn't fast enough and even simple tasks will keep you waiting. Display isn't very sharp thanks to anti-glare and durability coatings.
Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 review: A tablet device designed for enterprise customers
Good Gear Guide.au
5 August 2013
Summary: The Stylistic Q550 is an Intel 'Oak Trail' based tablet that runs Windows 7. It's designed for enterprise users and has lots of security features to prove it. It's not awfully fast and it can sometimes feel downright sluggish, but as Fujitsu told us: it should only be used to run one task at a time. We agree with that.
Pros: Good security, Removable battery, Excellent screen
Summary: This is a Tablet designed for business use. This means that it will not be cheap and just for once the screen surround will not be shiny black so although the fingermarks will still be there they will not show up unless you look.
Conclusion: It is a challenge to judge the performance of the Stylistic when we haven’t seen any systems using Oak Trail processors running other operating systems, but the Q550 did seem sluggish to us. The Stylistic is also at least £300 more than the rival £420 + VAT Asus Eee Pad Transformer. It lacks performance, and is heavier than the Asus tablet when disconnected from its keyboard, 870g compared with 692g.
Excerpt: Buying a Windows tablet before Windows 8 comes out? It's not a bad idea if you want the Windows 7 tablet features like running PC apps and handwriting recognition now and Fujitsu's Stylistic Q550 combines the power of Windows with a touch screen and stylus - and the new Oak Trail Atom CPU which delivers decent battery life. That comes at a price, and a price tag, that won't suit everyone, including Windows tablet fans.
Pros: Sturdy, well-built, good battery life and removable battery
