Summary: I got this product the Thursday after Christmas. By Saturday, the charging pin (the thing that you plug the charger into) had broken. We couldn't get a replacement because it wasn't broken when we got it... And I guess that's just the way it is. But I would suggest that you do NOT waste money on this product. Get something else that's worth the dollar you spend, because you certainly get what you pay for.
Summary: This tablet definitely isn't the best. I was really happy with it when I first got it, but it started freezing up. When I would try to turn it back on, it wouldn't come on at first. I would have to keep re-setting it then trying again. I tried contacting Coby customer service, but I never got a response. I got tired of trying and just gave up...
Summary: Update I called Coby today about my Coby MID7042-4 tablet thay've had for 67 days to repair. Coby response I should recevie it Thursday. Almost the same response I've gotton everytime I've called. Below is my orignal review: I usually don't review products I've bought. However I thought I'd share my experience with Coby tablet repairs. The speakers quit working on my Coby tablet after 32 days Amazon couldn't help because more than 30 days had passed.
Summary: Don't waste your money. It runs an unsupported version of android (meaning it doesn't come with the google market). Doesn't run nearly half of the things that it should. Its slow, feels cheap, and way overpriced at 100 dollars.
Summary: I had already owned and loved a Coby tablet, so I was confident in the product. But this time, and for the first time, I tried purchasing a USED item through Amazon. I'm not sorry. I paid about half the price, and it works just as it should. Pleased with the whole experience.
Summary: You have to put in two hours to install the android and amazon marketplace and some apps, very easy. You need to get at least a 8gb mico sd card on which you'll install most apps. It's a good reader/ basic app/ basic gaming and browsing device. The screen is nice and responsive. Yes it is sometimes slow to boot and load but just take a deep breath.
Summary: We bought this product (not from Amazon, however) for our grandson for Christmas 2011. He loved it and really got into using it. He used it so hard that four weeks after we bought it, the on/off switch on the unit broke. We took it back to the store we bought it from, and they exchanged it for a new unit. The second unit lasted about 2-months and then the on/off switch broke like on the first unit. We haven't tried the warranty route, and I am not sure if we will.
Summary: This was my second attempt at getting my son an Android base 7" tablet for his birthday finally returned it and purchase a Barnes & Noble nook. This thing was slow, unresponsive, took way too long to configure (and I have been configuring technology for 30 years) and would not run some of the most popular android apps like basic "Angry Birds". No access to Google Play and the Coby app store was less than impressive.
