Is this new?

espiritismoenpr, Amazon
25 March 2014
  • Summary: I was looking for a new Playbook, never used. After receiving this box, which was really scratched and kind of messy, I noticed this is not a brand new unit. The plastic covering the screen was all messed up, I am still looking for the earphones, just in case they are magical and will appear suddenly. I am really dissapointed, even though the unit is in mint condition.

great tablet...but needs to incorporate popular apps

Patricia R. Mathes "NOPA2065", Amazon
2 September 2013
  • Summary: This is a wonderful tablet! I really like the bridge! There is one downside, however. The Kindle app is not supported on this device nor many other useful and popular apps. I contacted Blackberry customer service and was coldly advised that I should use other ebook apps and not hold out hope for the Kindle app. Considering I have thousands of dollars worth of periodicals and books on Kindle, including my School Books, I am disenchanted and disappointed with that answer.

Good tech for the price

rakuten
5 July 2013
  • Summary: This is a good tablet. Lots of disk space (32GB model) with decent speed running apps. The boot up time is slower then I would like so I tend to leave it powered on. Battery life is good without the wifi enabled. Cons are the heat generated by the device. Its not bad but it is noticeable. If you use a blackberry this is useful to read e-mails using the BB bridge.

Playbook Review

jbigwood00, epinions.com
21 October 2011
  • Summary: My final recomendation is it is an average device. It still requires many software reconstructions and the battery life needs to be reviewed.
  • Pros: Adobe Flash. Blackberry Bridge. Enhanced Browsing Capabilities. Display is vivid. Video capabilities are surprising, yet humble.
  • Cons: Extremely poor, non-specific app selection. Operating system is buggy. Apps tend to randomly close.

"Fabulous interface - poor support - bad connectivity"

Martinpoole, CNET
14 June 2011
  • Pros: The UI is amazing - RIM got it right. The frame around the screen is even touch sensitive and allows intuitive scrolling, keyboard display and access to the settings.
  • Cons: My main gripe is that the device will not connect via Bluetooth to my win6.5 cell running WMWIFIRouter

"There's potential but the software just isn't there yet"

Sourdust, CNET
25 May 2011
  • Pros: Size makes it more very portable; good battery life; nice screen; can connect via WiFi to copy files to the PlayBook (I'm not a fan of needing desktops to move video, etc to tablets and phones);
  • Cons: Terrible web browser; no app for viewing files on other network computers; usability not even close to iOS; included apps don't do much.

"Amazing hardware... but where are the apps?"

CNET
14 May 2011
  • Pros: Nice portable size, fast OS, high quality cameras, and great battery life. It also has the best mobile browsing experience of any tablet or smartphone. I also like the BB Bridge functionality.
  • Cons: Got apps? No Foursquare, Google Mobile Apps, Kindle, LinkedIn, Netflix, Nook, Twitter, VEVO, etc. Also missing the standard IM/ video chat clients, AIM, MSN, Skype, Yahoo!, etc. Needs an RDP client too. Lastly, the keyboard needs improvement.
