Under-powered and disappointing

lilyhemlock, epinions.com
19 June 2013
  • Summary: I think a $200 device could do better. This tablet is slow, and a nightmare to use.
  • Pros: Low price, clear screen, easy navigation between apps, ability to access the internet.
  • Cons: Cumbersome file storage and touch responsiveness, slow processing and other glitches.

WBSobe74, CNET
25 November 2011
  • Pros: The operating system is smooth and easy to use. The system is fast, loads pages quickly and runs multiple apps. Screen has great color and image. Screen size, I think that the screen size is good.
  • Cons: Extremely weak applications. I bought this to access the internet via my 42" tv w/ HDMI output. Yes has Flash but some websites don't load well. NO Netflix, NO Hulu, NO Amazon Videos Newpaper apps--NY Times, no WSJ-Huh? Book app only Kobo

"Cool but it not enough"

Hadysn, CNET
6 October 2011
  • Pros: Sleek interface, 7 inch tablet, Slim and cool design
  • Cons: the reason that I rate it 2 stars because they do not have enough application compared to Ipad or Android. Rim needs to have basic application where people bought Tablet for. For example, they need to have Skype, XE currency for business, Messenger such a

Poor app compatibility, poor construction, poor warranty

joanmo, Viewpoints
4 October 2011
  • Excerpt: Product is not compatible with many apps, free magazines, etc. Portal for plugging tablet in became defective within six months. Apparently this is a common problem. Beware! When I returned it to Blackberry for service under the warranty that showed it was valid until Oct 2013, they sent me an email saying it would cost $125 to fix the problem!!

  • Pros: Synchronizes with business Microsoft-related products; better touchscreen than the loathed Blackberry Storm
  • Cons: Too small, very heavy for the size, few apps (same problem with the Blackberry Storm series), not great keyboard, on-off button too small, closing apps requires a "help" screen to figure out.

"Too little, too late"

oneupcanuck, CNET
15 April 2011
  • Pros: Features a high resolution screen, portable design and versatile QNX operating system. The playbook finally offers decent 3D gaming performance that the iPhone has had for a while now. Companies may like it's security features and integration with corpora
  • Cons: Lack of a true purpose. It seems as though RIM created the Playbook as a knee-jerk reaction to competition rather than in response to actual demand. There is a severe lack of application support making this expensive device of limit use to most people. Th
