Real worth?

Veljkovic D., Newegg
22 January 2012
  • Summary: Unfinished product. You cannot use it unless it is updated. Why? Buggy. $299 price for the 64GB model is still too expensive. Not worth it. Limited software availability. For internet and as a book reader is OK. For anything else look elsewhere. Now i know why RIM is in trouble.
  • Pros: This is a review of 32GB model. Bought four of these through my friend at RIM. Advertised price was 149.99 for 32GB model. After my friend purchased it, there was a $40 benefit fee included in price. Which, with canadian taxes added up to $210. All four of these had the same issues. You have to p...
  • Cons: ... and see if it will update the Playbook. She could not tell me if that is possible simply because she did not know. On my comment that I am loosing juice from the battery although I am connected through USB she said that Playbook cannot be charged through USB cable. So, I had to cancel everyth...

Amazing Tablet

Nick T., Newegg
21 January 2012
  • Summary: Buy one, its one of the best Tablets out. Massive OS update sometime in Feb 2012 that will bring a lot of new features including Android support.
  • Pros: It runs smooth as butter. Super fast dual core CPU with a large 1GB memory. One of the best Tablets on the market. This is easily an iPad 1&2 killer. Full java, flash and html5 native support, Wifi and a lot more. I've had over 9 different windows open at the sametime and it ran smooth and fast. ...
  • Cons: Apps, but not really, there is more than enough to keep this Tablet alive and kicking.

john h., Newegg
20 January 2012
  • Summary: I think you as a buyer can look on u tube and see all you want, just to prove you are getting what you want and need . Just type in playbook games or whatever and see it work
  • Pros: look at the price i have a 16 gig i paid more for and I am still happy. you are getting a deal here. If you want a tablet this is it, yes i have had the 64 gig i pad #1 but i like the size and well everything about the play book more. There is a learning curve as with any thing new but so well wo...
  • Cons: i do not have bad things to say about it when i got it i already new it was not a PC

Surprisingly Awesome Tablet!

Mang Cut, Amazon
12 January 2012
  • Summary: In terms of ease and look, Blackberry Playbook OS is the best mobile platform. This is coming from a person who currently owns a Windows Phone 7, an Android Phone, and an iPad 2. I bought the Playbook with much hesitation and little expectation. The $299 price convinced me to get it.

Love my playbook

Courtney C., Newegg
11 January 2012
  • Pros: Been using my playbook for a few weeks now and I just the size and how easy it is to use. Not to mention I love going to sites with flash. I have an ipad but ipad currently collecting dust. All that's missing on the playbook are the apps. Then again, the browser is so good I can just visit the re...
  • Cons: Not enough apps or apps that's work getting yet. wish the camera had flash and the battery was a little better though.

know what you're getting into...

Anonymous, Newegg
6 January 2012
  • Summary: - know the shortcomings of owning the playbook if you don't own a blackberry phone before complaining about the lack of native mail, calendar or contact apps - most of the CONS will be address in the major software update promised for Feb 2012, but i'm satisfied with PB even if RIM doesn't keep its...
  • Pros: - great screen and browser; flash streaming sites work seamlessly w/o lag: i'm able to view full episodes on both CBS and NBC's website, haven't tried ABC shows yet - speakers produce great sound - responsive and no lag - love the keyboard's "tactile" feedback vs ipad's - fits in my jacket/coat p...
  • Cons: - very few and more expensive apps than IOS and Android; ios/android apps go on sale/free often but this doesn't happen w/ playbook apps - cannot manage or rearrange browser bookmarks - cannot use blackberry bridge if your phone connects through BES but can still tether to surf internet wirelessl...

1st BB product, but in no way a hater!

Barry J., Newegg
6 January 2012
  • Summary: Contrary to all the BB haters I'm still going to be open minded about this product. Have used an Ipad and android products and they seem to work more like a phone. (Slow) I wanted something that works more like a mini PC and this thing is all that!
  • Pros: Hardware in this machine is top notch. Well built machine. Software is also good and will get better with updates. Killer graphics and hi def is second to none. Not an android nor a fruit basket but a TRUE multitasker! Cant wait for the OS updates for even more connectivity! But does everything t...
  • Cons: True it has it's setbacks in the apps department but knew it going in. If RIM addresses the native email, calendar, contacts, use of android apps and MKV movie files with it's OS update I will be dancing.
