BlackBerry PlayBook

CNET
19 April 2014
  • Summary: The 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook tablet has much going for it, including speedy multitasking capability and a zippy, fresh operating system. But we still can't recommend it, unless you're a confirmed CrackBerry addict.
  • Cons: Must be connected to a BlackBerry phone for many key features to work; video calling only works between PlayBooks; fewer available apps than on competing platforms.

BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Review

TechSpot
8 February 2014
  • Conclusion: As we have seen throughout this review, the BlackBerry PlayBook offers a lot to like, and a lot to hope for. The user experience is solid, it can be a joy to use, and we rarely found issues with crashing or instability. Unfortunately, that is not enough to succeed in today's highly-competitive tablet market. Besides a great browser, users want apps, solid email support, messaging, and more from their tablet devices.
  • Pros: Fast response, Great screen, Solid build quality, Future promise
  • Cons: BlackBerry smartphone required for many tasks, Few apps, missing core functionality, Mediocre camera

BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 review

theverge.com
7 January 2014
  • Summary: When we reviewed the BlackBerry PlayBook back in April , we couldn’t help feeling the device’s insides didn’t match its outsides. The PlayBook is a well-built, good-looking device, but its software was buggy, frustrating, and frankly unfinished. There was no email or calendar app (yes, really), and few apps of any kind to speak of. PlayBook 2.0, a software update released this week, is RIM’s attempt to solve many of those problems.
  • Pros: Much improved performance, Email, calendar, contacts apps are finally native, Smart UI enhancements
  • Cons: Still some bugs, particularly with scrolling, Android app selection is weak, Email app could be better

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Mobile Magazine
12 August 2013
  • Conclusion: This is a great tablet, it’s small, fast, the design is solid and doesn’t feel like a MIC craptablet. It’s got a great form factor, the virtual keyboard is kick ass since the size of the tablet allows you to use it as a perfect thumbboard — I think RIM thought this one through. The OS is slick and sexy, although basic and could use some “bells and whistles,” keep in mind it’s a first gen OS and wow, what a first gen.
