BlackBerry PlayBook

Channel5
4 October 2014
  • Summary: The BlackBerry PlayBook is a neat, compact and capable tablet. We like it, but sadly that isn't enough, as the lack of apps severely lets it down. Without apps, you'll often find yourself wondering what to do with this tablet – a problem you'd never have with the iPad 2. That said, it's still a good option if web browsing or flicking through your photographs sit at the top of your requirements.

BlackBerry PlayBook tablet OS 2.0 review

gearburn.com
8 March 2014
  • Excerpt: BlackBerry fans, rejoice. Your reason for believing in the beleaguered Canadian manufacturer is here. The PlayBook was throwaway nonsense, an expensively wrapped tablet with a broken OS irritatingly tied to a smartphone. OS 2.0 breaks the shackles and allows the tablet to stand on its own. BlackBerry has opened my eyes to one of the best tablets on the market, one that now I hold in a higher regard than the iPad 2, thanks to the refurbished OS. Let’s see why.

BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Review

TechSpot
8 February 2014
  • Conclusion: As we have seen throughout this review, the BlackBerry PlayBook offers a lot to like, and a lot to hope for. The user experience is solid, it can be a joy to use, and we rarely found issues with crashing or instability. Unfortunately, that is not enough to succeed in today's highly-competitive tablet market. Besides a great browser, users want apps, solid email support, messaging, and more from their tablet devices.
  • Pros: Fast response, Great screen, Solid build quality, Future promise
  • Cons: BlackBerry smartphone required for many tasks, Few apps, missing core functionality, Mediocre camera

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Mobile Magazine
12 August 2013
  • Conclusion: This is a great tablet, it’s small, fast, the design is solid and doesn’t feel like a MIC craptablet. It’s got a great form factor, the virtual keyboard is kick ass since the size of the tablet allows you to use it as a perfect thumbboard — I think RIM thought this one through. The OS is slick and sexy, although basic and could use some “bells and whistles,” keep in mind it’s a first gen OS and wow, what a first gen.
