Review Asus VivoTab TF810C Convertible

18 February 2013
  • Summary: Unbalanced. Use real Windows 8 in a tablet or notebook. There seem to be no boundaries for the productivity: the familiar Office-package works, frequent writers will love the keyboard and the battery runtime is gigantic. So why this title?
  • Pros: Keyboard with good feedback, Wacom stylus pen for accurate input, Standard USB ports via docking station, Extreme battery runtimes with docking station, Silent operation, Low heat development, Bright display and high contrast, Best viewing angles in its class, Accessories: tablet stand/cover, Very good 8 MP camera with flash, Clean and high quality aluminum inlet of the keyboard. The docking inputs are convenient and the stylus refines working with the Windows desktop...
  • Cons: Low Windows-performance, Lowest GPU power, Loud click pad, Slow, small flash storage, Very long charging time of both batteries, Slight TFT bleeding / pressure-sensitive borders, A standard SD card reader and an HDMI port at the dock. The low performance leaves a bad impression; the VivoTab cannot be used as desktop replacement. The drivers of the PowerVR SGX 545 are suboptimal; we could not determine the specifications and the display calibration did not work.

  • Conclusion: So does the ASUS VivoTab measure up as a Windows 8 tablet that can quickly transform into a functional laptop? The answer is a mixed bag – while the keyboard dock is an excellent idea, it’s actual usability is hampered by uncomfortable keys and the fact that it adds considerable weight and thickness to the device. The bundled stylus is a unique addition, but is yet another thing that you’ll have to carry around or stow away safely if you end up using it.

  • Pros: Fotocamera frontale; Fotocamera da 8 MP; Modulo NFC; Wi-Fi e Bluetooth; Windows 8; Uso tramite pennino digitale; Design; GPS; Tastiera docking rimovibile
  • Cons: Memoria interna; Risoluzione display; No slot per schede SIM
