Summary: With only a single USB connection and no SD card slot or video output, the Archos 9 isn't very port-friendly. We would have especially liked to see an SD card reader, which would make this a potentially useful tool for on-the-go photographers. Some additional connections, including two extra USB ports and an Ethernet connection, are available via an Archos port replicator. We thought we'd seen some slow Netbooks before, but nothing quite like the Archos 9.
THEY ARE A BIT SLOW, BUT ARE LIGHT ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM ANY WHERE

Summary: I REALLY LIKE THE SIZE OF THE ARCHOS 9 TABLET PC. iT COULD USE A BIT MORE STORAGE ON THE MAIN DISK. THE SCREEN IS VERY CLEAR, AND IS EASY ON THE EYES. AS MOST SMALL TABLETS, IT COULD USE BETTER SPEAKERS, BUT THE SOUND PRODUCING CAPABILITIES ARE QUITE GOOD. IT IS REALLY QUITE EASY TO USE AS A PC, AND CAN HANDLE MORE THAN ONE PROJECT AT A TIME I HAVEN'T REALLY USED IT A LOT, BECAUSE OF MY BUSY SCHEDULE.
Summary: ITS NATURALLY HEAVY BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS A HAND HELD DEVICE AND ITS NOT BUT IT WAS WORTH MY MONEY I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO A COMPUTER GEEK ONLY.... MOST PEOPLE WOULD PREFER A ANDROID TABLET.
Summary: I've had this pc tablet for a little over 4 weeks and i'm very pleased with it. The capabilities are quite the same with a netbook that i already own and its way lighter. The touch screen is very accurate, webcam, speakers, all good. I only gave 4 stars because the battery life is unimpressive and there's no HDMI output, and the cramped Hard drive is killing me. However this tablet is very affordable and great to carry around.
Summary: I love this piece of hardware! When it came time to upgrade however, Archos was less than compliant at assisting me with recovering my Windows. I requested to speak with the customer service supervisor after the rep started to get "that tone", was told I would be called the next business day. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. Must be a techie to find work-a-rounds, don't expect anything from Archos Company once you purchase. Again GREAT MACHINE with CRAP CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Excerpt: Linux Mint was my first foray into the world of Linux and I could not be happier. I use it on my work netbook and it is great. It boots quickly and can detect both wired and wireless networks quickly. I haven't played around much with the architecture but it is very easy to download and...
It can be improved to deliver a better performance.

Summary: I have Archos toys since 2004. PMP and MP3 players are amazing, now I have the Archos 5 Android 500GB and I love the storage capacity. In regards to this new Archos 9 PC tablet, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed, with an Intel Atom processor and only 1GB RAM it is slow. I think this product can do much better with another version of Windows, for example XP. In general it is OK, what I like the most is the portability.
Summary: I would have given this device 5 stars if it had come with something other than Windows 7 Starter. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but it's small, very compatible (windows 7 and USB). I didn't like the onscreen keyboard, but once I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium I was able to use handwriting recognition (freaking amazing). It doesn't have multi-touch, but I can use almost anything as a stylus (don't be afraid to push on its screen).
Great for my work, I wouldn't use it for much else

Summary: I needed a portable windows computer that could use a web-driven piece of software. Archos 9 delivered. But if I was to own one of these at home, it'd be next to useless. You might surf the web, but a netbook would be better. Or play a game of cards, but a deck of cards is cheaper. Evaluate what your needs are electronically, and then determine if this is the right product for your needs. I wouldn't worry about durability.
