Archos 80 Cobalt: Cheap tablet for beginners and kids
25 April 2014
Excerpt: "I have had the tablet for a little over a year and it's already been consigned to the scrapheap. On paper the tablet is good value for money and the screen is big enough for watching movies and making out small text, but all positives really stop there. In my opinion anyone who is well versed in android and has experience with any smartphone will be disappointed. Firstly the tablet, despite its 1.6GHz processor, often suffers from slow loading speeds. ...
Pros: Large clear screen, good build quality
Cons: Slow processor, apps often can't open or force close, doesn't charge via mirco USB
Summary: This tablet was recommended by a friend. Couldn't get a new one so went Refurbished to get the model I was after. Couldn't be more impressed - the system is stable, speed is great, colour screen is very impressive, battery life is amazing. Slight issue that the tablet occasionally drops the internet connection but easily reconnected. Highly recommend.
Summary: Only had this for week so this is only an initial review. Last year I bought a Toshiba AT 300-101, and I was looking for something less bulky and more portable. Saw this on the Tesco Outlet store on EBay advertised at £49.99. Despite some misgivings, as there are a few negative reviews on the Tesco site, I decided to buy it. First impressions are nearly all positive.
Summary: the item is ok but I am not able to watch live shows on it namingly my website "Dave C's Master Mix" there are live radio shows on my website and I can't see what's going on on It , I am able to listen to the programmes but not able to see the Dj's I have since then phoned Archos tech support and explained to them that I am not able to watch live programmes like I can with my other Archos 80 tablet that I bought from tescodirect I downloaded chrome just like I did with...
Summary: I initially bought this tablet in the tesco boxing day sale for £49,however the first one developed a defect and was swiftly replaced, and so far so good with the replacement. It has been great value for money, great for multi tasking, playing downloaded games, dragon gems, jewel quest etc.,however the you tube player isn't very good, buffers and stalls, though ,plays well through chrome, and catchup TV is great.
Summary: A quarter of the price of a mini iPad, so for the money, much better value than a mini ipad as it can do the following extra: Recognises and runs 3g USB stick - so if you have one of these it will turn your device into a low cost 3g tablet. Runs flash downloaded from the Adobe Flash Andriod archive - just download and install after changing the security settings to allow unknown sources installs. You can then watch flash enabled web sites.
Summary: My son bought two of these tablets at Christmas one for him and one for me. I am a novice with these wizz electrics and I have found he one I have as very good and performs many tasks. However, a word of warning. My son left his switched off in a drawer when he went on a week,s holiday and when he returned he discovered that the case had expanded and join had expanded to about an inch showing the works.
Summary: It may not have the screen quality of an I-pad or nexus 7 but as a tool it works very well. worked straight out of the box easy if you're used to an android phone. Quick on the net and well put together.
Excerpt: "When it comes to tablets most people tend to either go for the iPad or nothing at all. I needed a new tablet which was cheap to take with me out me and act like my iPad does. == Design == This tablet is made by a brand most people would instantly turn away from because it is not as well known or advertised as other brands are. This tablet has a sleek black colour to it which enables it to look smart and sophisticated. There are the normal type ...
Summary: I managed to get my Cobalt tablet at a heavily discounted price in a Boxing Day Sale, so of course I am thrilled to have got one of these for half price. For the past three months I have been using this an hour / a couple of hours a day. Picks up wireless signal one floor and two rooms away from the router. My favourite feature, an alert when "switched off" that I have an email. Battery life, good I would say.
