TERRIBLE customer service, known charging issues...
22 August 2013
Summary: Okay, I rarely ever rant against a company, but this is just too much... My mom bought me an Archos internet tablet 70b for Christmas last year. When I got it, it worked wonderfully and I was very happy with it. However, there is a "known" issue with the product, in that the charging port is too loose and after a while, it will not recognize the charger so it runs out of power and cannot be recharged. It lasted all of 5 months for me!
Summary: The Micro USB port on this tablet was not designed well. After several weeks using the tablet while charging, the Micro USB became so loose that a connection could not be made sufficiently to charge the device. Comparing this port with micro ports on other devices I own, I see the tolerances are far larger on the Archos tablet. It is not an expensive desk weight.
Summary: I am writing this review here because I can't write it where I purchased it. I bought this item from Best Buy.com and the product is no longer on their website. I was so excited to get this tablet when I looked at it online. I looked perfect for what I wanted. I have an iPad 2 which I absulutely love, however I wanted a smaller tablet for better portability. The price was great and for what I need the 8GB storage was fine. Has a sd card slot so that seemed great too.
Summary: For much of my music listening life, I have wanted to own an Archos. I saw this tablet for $99 in a computer store ad and thought, "It's time." I bought mine from that Comp store. The first one wouldn't read the SD card. I returned it 3 days later. The second one wouldn't either, but I decided to give the folks at Archos customer support a try. After the first email (they responded within a day) they asked what class cards I had used.
Summary: WiFi connection not reliable, the OS was not what it said on the box. Don't buy any Archos item unless it has an up to date O/S and includes the Google "White bag" app. always check compatibility with Google web site.
Summary: I got this for my christmas last year from my wife as a surprise. I had been toying with getting an ebook reader and she went ahead and bought me this. I was over the moon when I opened my present and got this, but couldn't have been more disappointed when I actually went ahead to use it. The touch screen was slow and unresponsive, despite repeated calibrations.
seller is dishonest, sold inferior product to that was advertised and paid for

Summary: seller is dishonest and sold an inferior product that was advertised, for example advertised the android firmware to be 3.2 when it is only 2.x Returned product to seller, seller sent it back claiming there were scratches but in any case is not the product that was advertised or sold, so my impression this is a very dishonest product as when challenged that the advert picture did not resemble the received product, seller claimed that was the right product, clearly not as...

They will not repair or replace it , only offer a discount on another product. Mr Mark Longhurst of Archos customer service department , apologies for his response on any email s sent due to his work load , BUT they offer NO HELP or ASSISTANCE
