A step up from an ereader but not the level of samsung or ipad

Excerpt: I mostly use it as an e-reader which is nice. Its easy to connect between my laptop and the tablet to copy files between the two. However the tablet doesn't come with the full google android market and you have to install it separately. This is the only way to access both the nook and the kindle app. After I made my purchase I realized I cant' do audio books from the library on the 70 you have to have the 50.
Excerpt: This is not a tablet that will make you forget about an iPad, but it certainly is a step in the right direction, especially after you update to Froyo (Android 2.2). There are a great many things to like about it (especially the price) but in order to get the full usability out of it you have to side load the regular Android macketplace.
Summary: I basically just wanted a big version of an ipod that could hold alot of GB and was a touch screen. This was the best thing i could find and it seems alright. I may go crazy if i had to use it as a tablet but seems to work with just music. It sometimes freezes and also seems to not turn on. So I have to charge it more i guess in order for it to turn on. Wish I could give it 2 1/2 stars. Although it works and its cheaper than a regular tablet.
Summary: I bought this exact tablet a few years ago. It doesn't play videos online and you can't view certain websites as it says your adobe player is too old. When you try to install a current one, it fails every time. I have downloaded the latest software updates but nothing has helped with this problem. It does play your music files as that is the only thing I use it for since browsing the internet is very limited and most of the time it freezes.
Summary: The main problem with this device is that it is NOT certified by Google to run Android. Why is this a problem? This means the device was not certified for a reason, such as not really having enough power to properly run android. If it were to, say, have 512mb of ram or maybe even 1gb, it would be a great device. With it not having sufficient ram, though, you would be better off getting a netbook and installing a touchscreen. I wish I would have not wasted my money.
Summary: After receiving this last Christmas (that is, Christmas 2010), my Archos 70 is still going strong. It's been through a flurry of firmware updates, custom ROMs, Linux installations, and wipes--and with minimal fuss it's made it through everything without any sort of dealbreaking errors. The folks over at XDA-Developers are not as active as they used to be but have a number of tips for rooting the tablet, installing custom ROMs and making it just run better in general.
Summary: I bought this thinking it would be a great way to surf the web without a laptop - it is, except that for what my family wanted to use it for - You Tube, netflix, streaming video etc it was not the right choice. It is not compatable with all the software so the videos are blurry and in some cases wll not even play. So I ended up returning this item. Now, for the picture quality on video that is already loaded or saved on the Archos - great!
Summary: I bought this one in May. It works good. I would give it 4 star but last week, I found that even after whole-day charging, the battery shows 93%. Seems battery begins to die after only two month. That is really really bad sign. 3 stars is the highest I can give now.

Summary: I've owned an archos 70 internet tablet with internal 250 GB hard disk for about 2 months now. The basic idea of this tablet it great- play music and movies, and have a handheld device for internet etc. The size is just right I think, where the screen can be read easily from a distance, but it is light and small enough to hold in one hand. It is also large enough that the touchscreen keyboard is easy.
Needs work, but still you can get it to perform well

Summary: Bought this about a month ago. I am a pretty techie guy so thought I would save some money. Loved the 250gb hard drive. have a hundred movies on it with room to spare. I had to goto blogs to put the android market on it, but it was easy...and it plays movies flawlessly. really good. the flash kindof stinks, but hope it gets better. the internet experience is good. espcially with HD browser from android market. Lots of kids games on it for my daughter...and she likes it.
