Hi everyone, fellow Archos users, i just got my Archos 5 IMT a few days ago. I think it's great, especially the clarity of the movies i put on it. The music plays excellent too, all these I have put on it from my laptop.
I think from my experience with it do far, it's a neat little powerhouse...with one exception.
On YouTube and Dailymotion the online videos will not play, I get the video window, a Flash logo with 9 on it...this is nearly everything Flash related on the web...esepcially music videos and Youtube, Hulu, Fancast, SyFy, and everywhere else I go on the web.
I bout two plug-ins so far, but I think this is an Archos 5 problem. The Opera supplied browser should be able to handle Flash 9 video streams? Right?
To double check I saved the Flash files to the Flash "container" in the Archos 5 H/D and they play just fine, same as YouTubes and Dailymotions. They just wont stream from the webpage itself.
Can anyone help me with an answer to this dilemma? I've been surfing for answers since Dec-26 with no luck. I am still extremely pleased with this device. I watched a few movies on it already and it is top-notch!!!!!
THank you! David68
when i open the youtube i click on any item to watch it dosent show any it says cannot play file
I am looking to see if we can strip source out of the menu system and make our own firmware updade in some way. So far not a lot of luck on that though. PLEASE Archos do NOT abandon the Archos 5 IMT (a5) firmware updates...I litterally baought miune out of ignorance and a bit of trickery on their webpage and ended up with the Wrong one. (I was looking for the android version originally but when I hit buy now on the android page it took me to the old one to purchase it.) So Please do something to update what needs to be updated on that one as well as doing firmware updates on the android variation. Otherwise people are never gonna trust the comapny...
Opera is the problem. THe archos will play the flash 10 files ok. The trick is to click the open in new window button on the youtube page. (upper right hand corner arrow) it will then open a tabbed out FLV window and it will play full screen. IF archos updates the Firmware again.(only thing I personally am really upset about with my IMT) they need to remove the Opera plugin and use the internal flash player plugin for streaming, and remove the now defunct media center function buttons and allow us to put other more useful items in that menu place. like say a flash submenu for SWF files.
