a tablet newbie buys a archos 43 16GB IT

Steve Johnson, Amazon
27 July 2014
  • Summary: It seems to have some software glitches and arrived with no charging/data cable, so I finally had to buy one in a store. The seller responded appropriately and pleasantly, though the tablet sat around, unusable, for a couple of weeks. I could not get voice-to-text or voice commands to work, as 3 different sites (including google play) reported that my device was not compatible with google voice search and a couple of others.

Archos 43 Internet Tablet

MisterTickle, ReviewStream

  • Excerpt: The Archos 43 Internet Tablet is one of the smaller tablets available. Tablets are usually 7 inch to 10 inch. The Archos 43 IT is probably the only tablet that has an 4.3 inch screen. I got this tablet for $199.99. I am a fan of Archos products.

not very good

cmorrice, Phone Arena
6 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Its not very good. The screen feels like it will cave in. Apps constantly crash. Very old android. The screen feels like a thin coat of plastic so its flimsy. The back and sides are a nice metal and it has a camera but other than that, its not very good.
  • Pros: hdmi, kickstand, metal back, camera
  • Cons: screen, old hardware, text, speed

Not touchy Enough

Aaron Melfi, Amazon
7 May 2014
  • Summary: Got this awhile back just to have. It did good for the time, and would recommend it. The screen did get really funky once it got humid out, failing to register touches or doing it in the wrong spot.

Great little device with supurb display, but single touch and old Android.

inadvertant, Ebay
28 February 2014
  • Summary: This is a very nice tablet with some real pros and some cons. One noticeable problem is that it has a resistive rather than capacitive touchscreen. It requires a slightly heavier touch and will only recognize a single touch point. It is not multi touch. However the responsiveness is actually better than I expected. For most applications on a device this small it's quite good. The biggest problem I've found, is that it runs Android 2.2, an older version of android.

Inferior Product

sglenn, Amazon
20 February 2014
  • Summary: I really wanted to like this product. It had everything I wanted and was very affordable. However, the wifi function was very spotty-basically unusable. Other functions work OK, but the wifi is the whole purpose of an "internet tablet.

Amazon Customer "gfechter", Amazon
10 February 2014
  • Summary: The Archos 43 4.3-Inch 8 GB Internet Tablet is one of the best tablets I own. I have 6 tablets of different sizes and abilities, but my Archos 43 4.3-Inch 8 GB Internet Tablet is my go to tablet. It is very quick and responsive for games and internet access. I am planning on buying a larger Archos when the price is right from Amazon. Archos is an Excellent company!!!
