Summary: I'll make this as to the point as possible Good: Screen size Light weight for it's size battery life is not bad Nice speakers, but not great. Even thou is kinda slow, it plays music and videos pretty smoothly. Bad: It's slow. Even when changing screen orientation it has a 3 second delay, scrolling or zooming does not happen smoothly.
Pros: + easy to operate. + good battery life. + small but big. + cheap. + it has USB connections and micro SD card slot. + good video and audio player.
Cons: - the touch screen is not responsive & not smooth. - connection via USB between tablet and computer is not charging the battery. - a bit slow when you open application or folder. - yes, the front camera is horrible. - start up need sometime.
Pros: Does what you need it to do. Good battery life. BIG screen. Good touch Screen. Runs Android 2.2 but IMO the OS is a bit apart from the tablet. Price (at the time). Decent update intervals. Easy RMA when you need it.
Cons: A bit sluggish. Sometimes more sometimes less - each firmware update has it's own effect. Only HDMI video out (I'm still in the dark ages lol). No buttons - sometimes I'd rather NOT have to touch the screen. Archos abandonment issues - they have a tende
Pros: Big Screen Great connectivity/sharing Good UI/OS Good sound
Cons: Really really really poorly built. Perhaps the worst built product I have ever come across. If you say you have had luck with Archos before then you have not tried the 101. It is **** poor construction.
Excerpt: I love the design of this tablet, it's screen is a nice size (it's also capacitive) and it's very light and easy to hold. Although it doesn't have 3G connectivity, it does have WIFI, which means you can buy MIFI and use it anywhere, not just at WIFI hotspots. I use mine as an e-reader, I use the free Sipdroid app to make phone calls via VOIP (I already had a paid VOIP service before I bought this tablet), I've got Quick Office installed and easily work on MS documents...
Summary: I purchased this tablet because I wanted an alternative to the Ipad do to price and lack of external features. The Archos 101 does not lack in external feature or price however, I could not get over the lack of support for the android market.
Summary: The Archos tablet is amazing especially with the low price tag of $299. The fact that it has Flash 10.1 support makes it a great alternative to the overpriced iPad. Just a word of warning though, if you want one do not buy it from any seller on Amazon other than Amazon itself because they are seriously overcharging and scalping people for a dishonest buck. The price of this tablet from Archos set by Archos is $299 for the 8GB.
Summary: After researching for more than 1 month online, I bought A101 on 12/22 when it was available on Amazon for just a couple of hours. Finally received it on the last day of 2011. The process I went thru for the system set up: (after reviewing related postings on Amazon and Archosfan) 1. Hooked it up to the Wi-fi network. (You want to make sure you plug the power adapter into the correct hole on the side, but NOT the headphone jack. They are almost in the same size.) 2.
Summary: This is a pre-review I guess. I was so anticipating getting it and even paid for one day shipping. Alas, fate laughs as the device won't start up. Charged it and there's a solid green light when I unplug it but the screen won't come on when I press the power button. Nothing I do turns the screen on - lol. Was brand new of course, in plastic and the box.
